Can there be more customization for asteroid belts

I have been playing around with the map editor and found myself wanting to place asteroid belts or "rings" around gas giants or large metal planets or just simply adjust their orbital path to be more like a oval then a perfect circle.

Is this already possible with some mod or something that possibly could be added in a patch/update?
