I was wondering can asteroids with fusion engines move anywhere? Or can they just make the "phase jump" to an orbit and move in orbit..
Exact Mechanics are unknown, but the basic idea is to make things really easy for the player, so the basic plan is just as seen in the Gameplay Visualization. Mike
Another question I have is, can you put engines on stuff like a moon or a planet? And can you move with them?
I thought I remember them saying you could* in a live stream, but it wouldn't work well due to the much bigger size. *could may mean in the physics sense you could, not in the playable in game
No. Completely free movement would let you accelerate them out of the planetary system to protect all the expensive economy structures that have been stacked on them. I think it is likely that there will be several discrete options for asteroid placement. As in for each large object you could get the option to orbit around it or crash into it at a location. There could even be a selection of orbits available (geosyc, low, high etc...). It would be really nice if asteroids moved to their designated location using acceleration but at a minimum I'd expect the time to move between states to be somewhat based on position.
Uber has mentioned in a interview that you could move moons (it is however a very old interview so dont consider it confirmed): http://www.pcgamer.com/2012/08/15/plane ... terview/2/ And i belive they mentioned in a livestream that the metal planet is moveable (They mentioned it somewhere at least).
