So I sent a good 300 tanks and 100 anti air into the AI base. I'm guessing the AI went straight up NOPE. So it nuked them. I was insanely disappointed. Then suddenly I remembered. Wait my units are in their base. Suddenly victory alert The joy. This needs to stay. The AI suicided due to my overwhelming numbers. This is a good thing.
i hope this stays... as long as its own antinuke intercepts its own missile ... ; ) just make the missile a threat to the antinuke ... no matter from whom the missile originates...
Then you can't nuke outside your own base? Also, why would you want them not to program sensible intelligent checks into their ai? I thought we wanted an ai programmed with checks for absolutely everything and strategy on par with tournament players.
If the enemy have 300 tanks and 100 anti air INSIDE YOUR BASE the only sensible intelligent action is to nuke yourself. While this may result in your destruction, the 300 tanks would do the same, and this way you take them down with you (Double nuke too, one from the nuke and one from the commander).
Technically, if your commander is full health, this could be a good way to save it. Assuming it has somewhere to go afterwards to repair.
The problem with this idea is, in any situation where the commander could need a nuke to escape, the commander will also probably be heavily damaged by the time the nuke lands. For it to work the attacking army have to more or less already be in shooting range of him, but he needs to also have full health to survive his own nuke.
What if it's a deathball heading straight through your base? There are many situations where you may want to nuke your base. The actual blast radius of a nuke is small compared to how much damage the enemy units can do in your base unopposed.
Sounds like a feature. Either they loose, or they loose taking out large chunk of your forces. Suicided is a win-win strategy in this position.
This would be one of those checks then. Cost to enemy units per friendly units. Because if you had an ai on your team, you would NOT want them to nuke you epically to kill a small group of ants that were dying to your own turret anyway. If they made them still nuke if it were a net gain of enemy loss to self loss, and would not target their own commander but would nuke as close as possible without hitting it, then that would make the ai good.
Exactly. That's what I'm saying. It should nuke in situations where not nuking is bad, and it shouldn't nuke in situations where not nuking is good.
