Hello. My name is Tru BX Skillz. I have just joined the forums and my friend asked my to create a new forum review series. I agreed and the first game he requested was Brink. First off, I honestly raged SO MANY TIMES on this game. The easy difficulty in this is like veteran difficulty in Call of Duty. The AI on your team most of the time are rarely doing anything except going for the command post, while the AI on the other team act like automatic aim bots on sight. The AI teams are extremely unbalanced and you will most likely be pulling your hair out trying to do all of the work. The parkour system, on the other hand, takes a new twist on first the person shooter community. The game feels like a mixture of Team Fortress 2, Mirror's Edge, and Call of Duty. The parkour adds more variety to play styles as it provides complications. Now on to the gameplay itself. If you are the type of person who loves to lone wolf in first person shooters, then you are going to want to burn this game. You absolutely need teamwork if you want to succeed in this game. It's something that a lot of hardcore gamers don't understand, which also introduces a new level of difficulty. There are also some customization options included. You can upgrade your abilities for your classes, your look, your body type, and your gun attachments. While this feature is cool, there is one major flaw. You can gain the customizations way too easily. Your max level count is 20 which is already a flaw on its own. The even worse part of it is you gain experience from doing basically ANYTHING. Not surprisingly enough, you can even gain experience from doing absolutely nothing. The guns receive a ton of attachments from doing a single challenge. Thankfully enough they made the challenges hard as hell, so THAT'S another reason you would want to break this game. The online experience is fun but the lag in most games is just terrible. They recently released an update for the lag issue but I still so no difference. Brink receives two smileys   out of 5. If you have any suggestions on games for me to review, please do not hesitate to request. THANK YOU!

    Confused.

A lot of work for a spambot. So, this is mclovin's friend?

You know, the parkour system in Brink is the same reason I like MNC for it's skills and grapples. I'd play Brink if I had time for more games.

I rate it really good, and it is a damn shame CoD and Halo fanboys try to smear its ratings with bias, those retail game oldfags.

I am still into MW series myself, and am probably going to get MW3 unless I see some red flags about gameplay like I saw with Black Ops. Other than that, I think MNC and Brink should be the next gen of "top-line retail" games.

Speaking of MW3, it looks good. Black Ops looked good the first few I saw for it, but MW3 does really look like it is going to be more widespread influenced, and it looks like it is taking familiar weapons and giving them normal balance, possibly some new weapons and concepts and balances thrown in.

Why does infinity ward always make a brand new twist on storyline, and multiplayer balances and objectives and such? I think that is why I play some Cod at all. Cod Classic and Cod4 are great, mw2 was good up to a point where hackers and unbalance ruined it, and I don't think I cared for WaW or Black Ops.

If you thought it was a spambot, why would you type that much? Isn't that "A lot of work for a spambot?"

As for the game, I voted 2/5. I kind of took the game back last night for beer money. The game was novel in some new concepts, definitely enjoyed thinking about how it might make some future changes to the FPS industry. Kind of pushing some new concepts that might improve future titles by all developers. But, it had it's limit of gameplay to me, and the strict multiplayer directly the same as the single player campaign levels and the amount of time I had to spend holding X to accomplish every task, while praying I didn't get hosed from behind kind of got stale.

As for whether it's a spambot or not, my opinion shall be heard!

Polish is one thing I'd mention. Launch day lag, no lobbies, a cluttered GUI.

But I liked the game. Or I tried to like it anyways. Anything that pushes objective gameplay is a plus because it gets people to think about other things beside "pull trigger and kill".

Map design is also a problem. For all their boasting of the parkour and the SMART system, the most you'll be doing is going over/under waist high rails and maybe climbing a high ledge. I was expecting jump gaps, wall jumps, and more verticality but instead I get linear push/pull maps and while yes, objectives like escort need to be lines, it's an awfully big let down to have most of my movement be running instead of jumping and climbing.

Gun play also has a weird feeling I can't quite put my finger on. The aim assist seems to hinder me more then help (though if I turn it off, I can't hit anything at all).

Overall, I'd give it a 3/5, that extra one point is for the potential is brings with DLC and patches, but the need for future support and fixes is exactly why it's not a 4 or higher. It's a definite rent but buying it is questionable. As we're the official Uber forums, I have to bring up that MNC was $15 and gave me the same set of content (a few multiplayer maps, ability-centric action, objective gameplay) and yet Brink is $50-60. A valid comparison? Debatable. A comparison nonetheless? Yes, because money is money.

    Also, paragraph breaks. Use'em.

The lobbies weren't much worse than CoD4 servers. It is a console game, **** happens.

I must say, lag-free 8v8 lobbies on one of the maps that isn't horribly unbalanced can be really fun.

However, that has only happened once.

1/5, Splash Damage lost all credibility with me.

Just to clear things up, I'm not a spambot. I joined the forums yesterday and felt like posting a review for brink.
