I was looking to send my commander to the nearby metal planet. When I had me orbital sky crane thing with commander in toe selected and tried to zoom into the metal planet to find a drop point...the game crashed. This happened in the same way 4 different times. I gave up on that planet and was able to select a drop point on a moon without issue.
Hey, I didn't know this either until someone pointed me but you wanna use the bug tracker, which is here: http://pa.lennardf1989.com/Tracker/ Cheers!
I didn't know your name meant "evil olive" until you added an avatar. He is right about the bug tracker. Also, that bug sounds weird, but there ARE known issues with: trying to transfer orbits to or from a planet that is fairly close to the sun; It usually makes your units end up stuck inside of the center of planet or sun, which is why I stated it was odd that your game crashed. Another odd occurance is a planet that is too close to sun or orbiting planet, it will not work correctly when moved by Delta V Rockets and will either never move or never collide. Out of curiousity, was your planet fairly close to the sun? Did you try moving the planet in the editor farther away, keeping all the planets a good distance from the sun and space between each other (I believe this happens with moons that are too close to their planet as well), and seeing if the same planets can then work?
Thanks for pointing me to the bug tracker, I looked for a bug tracker before I posted but I guess I didn't look hard enough. I think I spaced my plates out a fair distance from everything so I do t think it was that. I actually had the exact same problem happen to me today too only I was in a different system entirely. I zoom out of my starting planet and zoom into a metal planet and it crashes. I have only ever had the orbital drop guy selected though. I should try it without before I post to the bug tracker.
