one of the things that bothers me is that it takes quite a while for a finished unit to exit the factory before it can start building a new unit. Especially true if the factory is assited by engineers.

It would be nice (maybe only for bots) if the factory ejects the unit (into the air) after it has been fabricated.
Even if you guys have to increase the build time of the unit to have no balance issue, it would make it less frustrating to watch as a player.

rolloff time is an important balancing mechanism to ensure multiple factories are viable and that 1 factory isn't pumping out everything.

    So build more factories.

EDIT: also welcome to the forums!

I believe the point he's trying to make is that the factory just fires units into the air so that it looks funny. Not to speed up build time.

Increasing the build time (cost) of units isn't actually going to balance out the roll-off time. Combat fabricators and other fabrication units can assist factories to speed up build time, but the roll-off time is a built-in way to create a minimum amount of time that it takes to make a unit in a single factory. The roll-off time is there to make it better to build lots of factories than to just assist a single factory with 20 combat fabs. If anything, roll-off time needs to be increased to help reduce the effectiveness of combat fabbers at home without making them useless in battle.

If I many make a suggestion, Devak does have a point. With the scale of PA being as large as it is, you probably shouldn't really be focusing on any one factory for long enough that slow unit roll-off is frustrating!

Ideally, you should set it to build things and then move on and focus your attention elsewhere while you let each factory do its thing.

The thing is, just to change the animation without changing the end effect of prolonging roll-out seems like something of a redundant task.
