Why must I have steam (bloatware) to buy and play this exellent game? I really want this game but I don't want any bloatware on my computer. Look at minecraft. They sell minecraft without any bloatware and they have sold much over a million copies. Are you ever going to release MNC without any bloatware?

Steam should be the last thing you should worry about then.

I see Steam as bloatware to low end users, however, it is likely no problem for those with fast processors and halfway decent GPUs.

MNC uses Steamworks as network service. So Uber would have to program their own netcode and stuff. That's a whole lot of work for very little improvement. Speaking of Minecraft, I play it quite a lot, mostly SMP. The netcode is pretty unstable, the error messages don't tell you jack **** about what a connection problem could be caused by and don't even get e started about chunk errors...

If MNC had netcode like Minecraft you would have:
    - random parts of the map not loading
    - invisible players killing you
    - randomly indestructible turrets and bots
    - crashes all the time
    - no server browser

Do I need to go on? ;)

I was not a big fan of Steam either when I first heard that MNC would use it. However, playing for a long time with Steamworks and the features it already has in place convinced me otherwise.

After the problems o and Scathis had to suffer through with Demigod, they probably wanted a tried and tested system that works. And it works like a charm!

Ain't the brightest crayon in the toolshed huh?

Ain't so worthless when you can play MNC with it right?

I'd love to know why you think Steam is bad.

I'm talking about the sales here. Not the netcode. Uber can write their own netcode if they wanted to. Do you think valve are the only ones to write netcode!? And such a stupid move to share profits with valve. In this time and age anyone can sell their own products. So why share the profit?

    I don't think you're that bright either.

I can play MNC without steam. If you don't have anything smart to say, then shut the heII up.

I guess to sell more copies of the game.

Oh my god, that would actually make sense and be more beneficial. I'm a genius. All hail me.

What Vlane said. Also programming a whole online platform with netcode from scratch takes time and costs a huge pile of money. Too much for a small Indie dev like Uber.

And stop calling each other idiots or I'll join the party.

idiot.........*runs away like a little girl*

on topic: how is steam such a burden to use for you? it made it easier for uber who is only a small team (something like 20ish people i believe?) that didn't really have a huge audience behind them, we saw a spike in that when it came out on steam and the sales sadly it died back down, either way steam has only been good to this game

there's no problem with a non-steam version of MNC if Uber decides to make one but there's no real disadvantage having it on steam

    and i think he's trolling

Steam may seem overkill to someone who only wants one game from Steam.
I didnt like Steam at first either, and I am not saying I like it now but I dont mind it as much as I did.
Because it makes it easy to get patches and other games.
To be honest, I was hoping for Battlefield 3 to be released on Steam so I wouldnt have to buy a DVD that will always need to be in the drive to run the game etc.

Just get Steam and get over it.

You can still buy it through Origin when it comes out if EA continues to be a **** about it.

EA was being a bitch and pulled Alice: Madness Returns and Crysis 2 off Steam so you can only buy them (don't know about other stores) on their store, Origin.

Alice is back on Steam but Crysis 2 is still missing, so I wouldn't count on BF3 being on Steam. Maybe EA will hire a guy until then who is smart but I wouldn't count on it.

Yeah, I love Steam and I always check there first when I purchase a game to see if I can get it through them.

Also, to the OP, if you don't want to hear the other side of what you think, DON'T POST A FRIGGIN POLL.

Thanks for the info. Seems I won't be buying BF3 then. Steam's DRM should be good enough for every publisher.

Only bad thing about steam is they are often very expensive. For example, i got Black Ops for 45 without them having an action, while it standard on steam is 60 and sometimes 40 through a sale.
