Hi all, two days ago I re-mapped some hotkeys and ever since I've been dealing with a strange crash-to-desktop that always occurred when I used one particular hotkey. I noticed that I was able to reproduce the crash every single time... I thought to myself that others must be encountering it as well, so I searched via the PA forums and Google but was unable to find complaints from anyone else. I thought this was quite odd. Well after encountering the crash again just a couple minutes ago, the realization suddenly hit my like a sack of bricks: the hotkey that I was using was Alt+F4... LOL. So the game wasn't actually crashing, but simply obeying my unintentional request to terminate/close it. Oh man I feel so silly, especially with my many years of gaming and IT experience Hopefully in the future the game will prevent you from using Alt+F4 as a hotkey! Just thought I'd share this silly mistake with everyone to hopefully prevent others from repeating it
ahhhhh the good old days in supcom where we'd tell noobs to use alt-f4 to duplicate the power of their overcharge and economy income... that was really a dirty thing to do too, since you couldn't reconnect, contrary to this game.
I know the feeling. I can't tell you how often I accidently tab-switched out of a game because they used Alt to highlight something and Tab for the map.....
Funny story. And not to be a killjoy, but isn't a bit unfair, though, to characterize this as a CTD in your thread title? You're not crashing; just exiting. Just sayin'.
That's why he edited his post, he made the thread BEFORE he realized what he did. At that point you can't change the thread title.
It is somewhat hidden under "Thread Tools". Thread title and the opening post are seperate things, so it is not done via editing that one.
Oh, I guess I missed all his original text. His current text just reads like a funny anecdote with no indication in the text that he updated his tale. Again, though, I wasn't trying to be a killjoy. Honest. It's just when I saw the thread on the main page before I entered, I groaned thinking it was another bug report.
