We've all ended up playing games in utterly terrible systems. Some of them are obvious in the lobby, where they have multiple metal planets or a million moons. Others... aren't so obvious. The system I just slogged through an hour+ long game on had three main planets circling a fourth smaller planet. Three small moons orbited waaaaaaaaaaaaaay the heck away from the sun and everything else. Needless to say, this made orbital trajectory pathing an absolute Charlie Foxtrot. Many nukes got 'lost' and circled the center planet forever while trying to perform their slingshot maneuver. Similarly, when a Halleyed moon was stopped barely short of impact, it began circling one of the planets at an incredibly tight orbit, and - surprise surprise - orbital units were never able to get there ever again, they just endlessly slingshotted around other planets. Is there some way we can get a preview of the orbits in a system, so we can figure out if a map is worth playing on or not?
that's some interesting bugs you found! thanks for posting this helps make the game better! sorry you had a bad experience, the best I can do is tell you it'll get better... you do have some mods that give you better in-lobby previews, though.
I guess asking to play on known systems may be a start. Like the default systems. Don't think there is a better preview currently :S
