According to the Steam Early Access page, Beta starts on September 6th. Is this still the plan? I haven't heard anything about it recently.

I'm perfectly willing to wait, of course, but it would be nice to know if the previous announcement has been invalidated.

Edit: ... And now I think I understand why the devs don't like giving release dates XD

Awwww, disappointing :( Thanks for the info, though! I'm surprised we're even so close to interplanetary warfare.

Do we have a timeline for the beta anyway?

    No.

Well, aside from the obvious "After Alpha ends and Before the Game Releases" deal.

in the latest news it said "couple of weeks" and in the after-gamescom interview Jon Mavor said, that they still want to realize their release in Dezember and Beta in September then I guess.
Probably the beta therefore will start in last September week.^^

Its more than likely close, they just need some form of interplanet travel, and I'm sure they will make it bootleg.

Other than that, it could be a month or more so expecting that might keep you from being disappoint.

My bet is week and a half.

They have to implement inter-planetary warfare to be feature-complete. With the recent addition of Orbital, i'm pretty confident we're nearly there.

Asteroid impacts (and terrain deformation) also need to be implemented.

We're not a week and a half away. Double it... at least.

Asteroid impacts will hold up beta. Terrain deformation will not. Well.. probably won't. But if it's a matter of everything else being ready, but terrain deformation is a few more weeks out, I'll be pushing to release beta.

Backer's Forum. Like fight club. You don't talk about that. ;)

Do you need to torment me so much, with such tantalising information? To all backers who have the time tomorrow to play Beta I wish I was one of you but I'm now in a job and having to do some tech stuff to my new gaming rig to get up and fully working so will have to wait till Wednesday at the earliest

It wasn't really meant to be a tease. :) We've pretty much drawn a line in the sand of what beta means to us. Deformation would be awesome to have on day one of our release, but I wouldn't want to hold up a full beta release because of it.

I didn't mean to indicate we have a beta build ready - we don't. We are getting close though, as we've said a lot lately.

I can't even begin to imagine how complicated the code for making planets both prodecural and destructable must be.

Don't worry about it I'm just upset I have to goto work and not play PA at the moment you released alpha when I lost my job and it came at a great time to cheer me up. I just wish I could afford to just play the game non stop and get paid to do it lol. You guys have already made my donation worthwhile beyond belief

Keep up the good work Uber! And don't sweat release dates. Get the game done right, don't rush it. This game will change the RTS genre. And there are loads of us that have and will continue to keep supporting you.

I would rather wait a few extra weeks to have a very good quality game than have an early POS.

Yeah, but if they have working planet systems in the editor then they probably can play. If they bootleg one orbital rocket for build, and then just code it to make units that use it just magically appear at destination, that is beta with least effort possible.

I would be ok with current alpha with jerry rigged interplanet.
