well wikipedia can answer such questions, it seems in germany we know a similar event as "Erntedankfest" which translates into "celebration thanks for the harvest". It's not a holiday though and I have don't even know if it has a specific date.
When does america get its long holidays? In aus we get our long holidays over the christmas period (6 week holiday) Is it mid year in america during the summer period? or does america get the long holidays now during winter?
We don't have any long holidays in the US, at least not in the non-school sense. Our general holidays are: January 1st, Memorial Day in May, 4th of July, Labor Day in September, Thanksgiving (usually Thursday and Friday, depending on the company), and the 25th of December (sometimes teh 24th), and some companies, like us, shut down for the week of Christmas for a short winter holiday. There are some others as well, though whether they're a national day off or simply a "bank holiday" - banks, schools and government offices only typically - there's not many.
Same in Canada, so many long weekends haha. Sometimes I just wanna get my damn work done but labour laws require my company to pay overtime for being in the office. So im not allowed to go in even if I wanted to do it for free just to catch up on stuff.
Same here in aus, i have to pay time and a half on holidays and double time in certain circumstances. I try to avoid letting people work holidays, i usually take the work myself so it's cheaper on the company budget. I can pay myself whatever .. lol (The inherent joys of being the boss)
No! It's.... ...well, yeah, nowadays, that really is all it is. I have to work that holiday because "Black Friday" sales start on "Thanksgiving". Americans really have poor priorities and have managed to screw this holiday up. Such a really bad shame. It is no surprise why I am Buddhist. People trample store employees and little children for a discount on entertainment devices. Way to celebrate Jesus's birthday.
Cant open the latest version of the game, my computer says the file comes from an "unknown publisher/developer"(may not be the actual expression, am swedish so just translated it word by word), and refuses to open the file. I play on Mac. What to do?
