Best/worst Skill Upgrades

    Which skills are absolute requirements, and which are usually not even worth getting?


    Required:
    1. Gunner passive. Lv3 is easily the best skill upgrade in the game.
    2. Sniper explosive shots. Earn more money, actually push lanes, and get accidental pro kills.
    3. Lv2 airstrike. Twice as many airstrikes! Ridiculous!


    Garbage:
    1. Smoke bomb Lv3. Radius increase doesn't mean much, and it's just not worth $400 to get a little reduction in the cooldown of a skill that doesn't need to be used very often.
    2. Tank deploy. Some might disagree here, but the only reason to ever deploy is to avoid grapples while juicing the moneyball, and no deploy upgrades are necessary for that purpose.

    The worst skills in the game belong to the gunner. Melee grapple 3 is a waste of your money. Does anyone ever buy it?

    Deploy level 3 is also a waste of your money as a gunner. Your damage is decreased and you get a helmet. Ok so what? If you just deployed a sniper can still kill you faster than you can move away. What a waste of money.....

    the instant health reg at lvl 2 is the only reason.
    i think the tanks lvl 3 grenade is pointless, everything moves out of its way before the secondary effect has a chance to hurt them.

    I actually love it for taking out bots. You can destroy a whole group at range with one Lv3 grenade. It's really good for hitting a group as soon as it comes out of spawn while you're pushing the enemy base. It also helps to deal a little extra damage to turrets.

    Unfortunately it mostly sucks against players. They either move out of it, or if you charge them after hitting them with the grenade, you end up hurting yourself with the cluster after knocking the other guy away from them!

    Interesting as the level 1 skill is overpowered yet the level 3 skill is quite underpowered.

    As for my list, well I guess I would have to break them down by level:

    Best Level 1's:
    -Assassin's Smoke Bomb
    -Assault's Fly
    -Sniper's Passive

    Worst Level 1's:
    -Gunner's Grapple
    -Tank's Product Grenade
    -Tank's Deploy

    Best Level 2's:
    -Sniper's Grapple
    -Support's Air Strike
    -Sniper's Freeze Trap

    Worst Level 2's:
    -Gunner's Grapple
    -Assassin's Dash
    -Assassin's Cloak

    Best Level 3's:
    -Gunner's Passive
    -Sniper's Passive
    -Assault's Charge+Grapple

    Worst Level 3's:
    -Gunner's Deploy
    -Gunner's Grapple
    -Assassin's Smoke Bomb

    I thought about mentioning the charge + grapple, but I'm usually only on the receiving end, so I know I'm biased. Some people here have actually claimed that 3 is worse than 2

    Nah Gunner deploy 3 has to be the worst skill ever.

    If you started with skill upgrade points, and some mode gave you enough points to upgrade all your skills I still would avoid buying deploy level three.

    Would you take more dash for free? Yes you would. Would you take extra grenades on the product grenade? Yes you would. I would even take the gunner's level 3 grapple, but I probably wouldn't use it except for bots.

    The only skills people might skip are the level 3 charge on the assault (because they hate being locked in the animation) and the level 3 gunner deploy because it is a downgrade as opposed to an upgrade.

    I think the charge level 3 for the assault is worth the cost because you do a lot of damage and you often get quite a few ring outs.

    I can only really talk about Assault, but I happily go full length games without upgrading Fly once. Charge 2 is great, Charge 3 is better but in some cases worse - you have to pick your moments, Bomb 2 and 3 are beyond fantastic.

    I hear gunner Deploy 3 is the biggest waste because it actually lowers damage.

    The gunner grapple...

    You know what's funny? A gunner should theoritically spend more time close to enemies and yet there is next to zero use for his melee atk. I used it when I was too close to a tank. It bought me some time, but I still died. Had I been a sniper, I would have rung out that summbiznich.

    A passive increase in specialty does....?

    i never upgrade fly on assault unless its late game cuz early game its worthless lvl 3 charge is better and also plassive and the bombs

    you guys realise that passive lvl 3 for gunner reduces damage you TAKE not deal.

    I agree the gunner level 3 grapple isn't used all that much but it isn't totally worthless. It's good for gunners who decided to defend their own base during the overtime "juice rush". Most opponents rush in, only concentrating fire on the ball. I'll grapple them after a few bullets to waste their juice and usually get a grapple kill out of them too.

    The second use the grapple has is to serve as a backup. My first skill choice for CQC is my slam ability but sometimes, I get rushed after I use my slam and I need something else besides my gun.

    Just my two cents.

    Gunner's Grapple is not woth the $550 to upgrade, period. If you want a backup to Slam use the Mortar Cannon's grapple ability; it's free too!
