    BEST: ASSASSIN!

"Whoa" you say... "your kidding right?"

    No... No, I am not.

After playing as a tank & support for most of my game-time I recently decided to switch it up and play some assassin.

As a tank/Support I usually try to push my bot lines up to the other base and try and take out one side of the bases turrets and eventually walk my bots into their base. There is a distinct ebb and flow as I work my way over... gaining ground... losing it, but eventually going for the jugular.

I always hate how assassins skirt the fight and go for the kills... so I mixed it up... and here where it got INTERESTING:

GOLD: Armor (survive a facial grapple)
SILVER: Juice (explained in a moment)
    BRONZE: Rate of Fire

Since moving lines was a habit I started hitting bots when the match started and noticed that for every dagger/sword swipe my juice started filling up ridiculously fast... and with the ROF perk I was swinging a lot.

Before I know it I was juiced and ran in and killed a couple pro's...

I ended up dying after killing 3 pros and viola! when I re-spawned my juice meter was already more than a quarter full (silver perk).

I went after some more bots and BAM! juice filled again... but this time some pro's showed close to my "Bot Line" and I took them out....

    Rinse and repeat....

Their support show up... cloak... rear grapple (re-cloak during grapple), smoke bomb, kill firebase... rinse and repeat.

Funniest thing was I only cloaked and dashed AFTER I had wiped out the bots... most of the time I was fully visible. Staying visible I must have baited 10 blokes (a game) into trying to hunt me down and I would just disappear and wax them too.

Game after game came and went with the same results K/D not bad (1.5)... not as good as my other classes... but LOT's of wins and amazingly the bot line generally held steady outside their base. I heard lots of comments from people saying they had never seen an assassin push a line before...

Other classes can definitely push a line... but for now I think Assassin ranks right up there.

    Any other surprise pushers?

I would probably consider Assassin, Tank and Gunner the top 3 (in order). The Tank's Death Blossom is super easy to clear groups and the Gunner's Mortar (especially when upgraded) is also very effective, even at range.

As for the Assault, Support and Sniper, sure they can still clear lanes but their best weapons take much longer than the previous three.

Assault with their grenade launch but you might need a custom class to go with this which emphasize on pure damage. You can also stay at a comfortable range to push the lane...

First of all, I would say, "you're kidding, right?". Second, assassin is the worst class and tank is the best lane pusher.

I push lanes constantly as the Assassin. Bots stand no chance against me, I have full access to ejectors at any moment and I can bust any turret up along the way.

A single sword lunge that damages the whole pack of bots followed up with a single swing kills the wave of 3 blackjacks for me. That's pretty quick especially compared to other classes.

Granted I would still say tank is the best for the regular blackjacks and slims with the death blossom.

tank is probably the fastest at killing the bots, but the gunner's mortar lets him work it from a safe distance. And taking out turrets is much easier so he can end up pushing farther more easily than anyone else

Assault has got to be up there.

You can easily destroy types of turrets with Grenade Launcher, and bots are made light work of too with Launcher/AR. While Assassin and Tank might be better at getting rid of any pros, Assault can pester them enough to force them to retreat and can easily kill lighter targets (heavy target usually require assistance unless the skills are really outmatched). However, as someone else said you need an Assault Custom Class to emphasise the right offensive skills rather than the 'basic allrounder' default setup.

I mean, really, so long as you get favourable (i.e. weak/counterable) any class can lane push. Support works well with stronger bot assistance, Gunner has high damage, Assault bests enemy bots and turrets, Tank the same, Assassin gets past and can stun turrets and easily kills bots and pros.

In fact it's rather obvious that the only 'bad' lane pusher is Sniper, because even if you kill a whole bunch of enemy bots and pros you're still limited by line of sight etc. unless you push up yourself which exposes you to flanking so...

    Shamas,

You said assassin is the worst class.

Worst class overall? or worst class for lane pushing?

Why?... just stating it doesn't make it so.

What? There's no way an assassin could possibly kill a support + FB. That's unpossible and the support + all its features need nerfed asap.

    /sarcasm.

The tank is hands down the best at pushing lanes. Assassin is probably second place as far as killing bots/turrets, but as soon as you add enemy pro resistance the assassin drops even further down the list.

I think the lane pushing effectiveness of a class depends on the map.

On Steel Peel and the Arena with large straight lanes on each side, the Sniper is the best Lane Pusher. Hands down.

On both of those arenas, once the passive is upgraded to level 3, you can kill both lanes of bots in less than 5 seconds from multiple places on the map. That doesn't include being able to kill base turrets from the same location. AND it is done from relative safety away from other pros and protected by freeze traps.

I always push a line with Assault.

    I use Gold: Crit dmg
Silver: specials recharge ( or whatever it's called )
    Bronze: Accuracy

Basically I'm a mobile mass damage unit. I get my 2 upgrades. built laser turret and push line until I get some more money..

If other team isn't pushing then I go for some kills to get money and boost my specials.

If other team pushes my side I save and build up turrets.

I like to take out their bot stampedes often. I have found that as an Assault, I can survive multiple pros around me and I can take them all out.

Sniper gives me trouble for obvious reasons..

But yea Assaults are great for pushing and maintaining that line and being able to go to middle map and back real quick and still hold line.

I have played with 1 assassin who pushed the line with me and he was awesome.

He went like 26-8-2 or something like that. Best assassin i've seen yet.

He pushed the right line with me. then did his thing in the midle While I maintained. and whenever we were together, we would take out like 3-4 of their pros... I would get all their attention and assassin would cloak stab and then they would freak out and while they were freakin out I would grapple and Rifle the rest...

So yea Assassins if played properly, can hold their own pushing a line.

Shurikens munch turrets like hungry, hungry, hippos that have an eating disorder :|

Although generally tank, Gunner, assault are your best bet for pushers as they are THE class for laning.

Snipers can happily whack away at turrets from a perfectly safe distance and can win games, but one decent turret healing support can stop him and it takes a long time to kill a turret, enough for a assassin to stab you in ways that just aren't fun any more.

This. I loves me some splash damage kills on assassins. Or a cowardly support hiding behind a wall, healing a turret. Not to mention the splash damage triggers if you hit your bots or pros. Assassins wana grapple my Jackbot? Sure, go ahead. You won't survive past my second shot, but feel free.

Do you ask them to group up for you and not to move under bridges? The Air Strike is great, yes, but with a ~15 second cooldown it won't push a lane quickly at all. Also, the HH Gun is faster than the Shotgun at taking down Blackjacks so why bother using the Shotgun?
