Certainly the second best in my humble opinion

The first best goes to the modding section of Kerbal Space Program. With very rare exceptions, the mod makers for KSP are super friendly, and most put their source code in with the mod packages so that you can see what they did and play with it. Over the couple of years since modding first became relatively easy for KSP, I have seen a number of spin-off mods come along. Even better (again, imho) there are often contributors of parts or animated bits for existing mods.

These bits may be as simple as a cfg change or as big as full blown models, animation, and integration better than the actual mod maker themselves could have done. These are always received with a very thankful acknowledgement, credit, and then formal integration to the mod.

KSP, together with this forum, bring me hope that we may yet survive the coming full-digital age.

    Indeed :)
Though the Total War Center forums, Kerbal Space Program forums and the Dwarf Fortress forums are also very nice xD

Kerbal Space Program is awesome! I played back in the day when we had to calculate orbits off some tables and had no Mun. Really great game. Need to get into it again.

I hate to say it, but although the community here is great now, it likely won't be that way once the game nears release, or at the very least, after release we'll see a degrade in community quality.

    ...enjoy it while it lasts

That's a combination of the community continuing to be welcoming but also firmly reminding people of the tools at their disposal (The search thread, topics thread, and others), use of the PM to correct someone who may not realize they're being a jerk, etc, and the moderators, Uber Employees staying engaged with you all, plus being even handed on the rules. So far, simple PM corrections have gotten most people to ease up if they've been going astray.

TL:DR - Keeping the community running well can't just rely on moderators and Uber. It requires the community wanting to keep it good.

All that said, we're glad you like it here, and it's our goal to continue to make it better.

Clearly, few of you have wandered over to the MNC/SMNC side of the forum. ;)

Out of all the forums I've been a part of (which wasn't many I'll admit but still), this is certainly the best. Bunch of nice people here. Glad to be a part of this community.
