It would be a very very nice feature if you were able to remove turrets you built/upgraded yourself. I'm not really sure that this would ever work in Crossfire, but towers almost always have a much shorter lifespan than in Blitz, and it would be very VERY nice to be able to use lasers first, and then tear them down, and build rockits later. (Or, if you misplaced a turret, be able to remove it again) I have had a couple of Blitz matches I simply restarted because I misplaced a turret.
I've often wished I could change a turret somehow.. whether its idiots building lvl 1 LB's, or putting LS's in the base ring.. such a waste of a turret nub. I just don't see how it would work
Yeah the problem with this is the obvious griefing potential. As it stands there is very little opportunity for griefing in the game, but if you made it possible to tear down turrets, that ONE JERK that everyone hates will come along and ruin the game. Based on what you said it would be possible to upgrade THEN tear down even if the turret wasn't originally yours. At this point it would be best if people just learn which turrets to lay down. No more Longshots on Steel Peel! Spread the word!
The grieving potential is as high as you allow it to be. Why not: - reduce price for L3 LazerBlazer to $150 - allow upgrading to L1 RockIt for an additional $150 - split the money earned evenly between both 'owners' - split kills like: LB owner gets the first one, RI owner second, LB third... It's more difficult with the other turrets but I think it would work for LazerBlazers.
I agree that the griefing potential is gigantic, maybe it could be solved via some sort of popup on the owners screen, where he allows/disallows the disassembly of a tower. (Minimal one, so as not to interfere with gameplay) Or that you could somehow mark a tower as "OK to tear down". But, a convert-the-tower would definately work for LBs to Rockits, but the other two just aren't as straight forward.
heh...how about just the (universal) ability to remove longshots on steel peel arena? cause... QFT Then perhaps the ability to remove longshots, shave ice, and laser blazers from the main ring on the rest of the maps. The money would (unfortunately) be refunded to the (idiot) player who placed it there. the ability to put a popup on somebodies screen would be a bigger grief than the simple dismantling of a turret. having to decide whether or not a tower can be torn down interferes with gameplay. converting a tower sounds good though.
If you ask me, nubs where the longshot would be clearly useless should simply disable the longshot build option. That'll prevent the newbie uninformed choices which ultimately hurt the team in the long run. And longshots aren't completely useless on Steel Peel. There's this one lonely spot at the very back where it can actually pelt its loads over the walls, but that's pretty much the only spot there is.
