    It's being kickstarted right now.

Looks like it's a hex grid turn based strategy where the more damaged your units are the less damage they do.

Normally I'd be skeptical since it's being made by a company that does point and click adventures, but apparently the prototype was well received.

    Like Civ?
The screenshot does remind me of Civ, but modern and prettier.
The gameplay sounds odd though, "You can spend days and weeks fighting epic battles against opponents all over the world". While that does sound nice, especially for people with bad ping, I'd hoped this was a worse case scenario kind of thing. Wouldn't it get annoying to have to wait a day to get a response once you're deep into a match, and you have to completely remember the exact move you were going to do?

    More like Advance Wars mechanically.

And asynchronous play allows for you to have around 10 matches going at once. Frozen Synapse is the best recent example I can think of. Mail based games like correspondence chess are better older examples.

EDIT: They're including live play for people who don't like that sort of thing though.

Bumping because the alpha just rolled out. It is amazing. Everything I wanted out of it, except for the things that haven't been finished yet, but there are placeholders for those things so you both know they're coming and generally know how they'll look.

I'll probably stream some gameplay once they tell us we can, which should actually be pretty soon.

Oh look, they are taking $95 for alpha access.

I've played the original Battle Isles to death btw. But those are not the same guys, are they? Battle Isles was from a German studio.

Actually, it was $75 for alpha. $20 for beta(basically a preorder with perks). I always shell out for the physical goods I want, and that included the steel box.

And they are not the Battle Isle people, but they obviously enjoyed it enough to make a spiritual successor.
