I was thinking of picking up this game. Looks pretty fun and the combat system looks neat. Just a curious question: is this a direct sequel and should I get the first one to enjoy the full experience? Also if anyone else has some single player game recommendations that would be great.
While it is not required to have played Arkham Asylum, I suggest you do so you understand references to the old game. Both games are truly amazing, probably two of the best license games I know. PLAY IT! PLAY IT NOW!
Can't comment on Arkham since I've not played it either. Brother did, said it was awesome. SH 1-3 were just amazing. 4 was alright, not enough creepy bunny doll. Haven't touched Downpour. Some SP games: Darksiders, Dead Space, Doom, Alice: Madness Returns, Dungeons of Dredmor, PixelJunk Eden, QUBE.
Alice: Madness Returns is an awful awful AWFUL game gameplay-wise. Style-wise it looks cool and story is pretty twisted. If you want an epic SP game, play Alan Wake 1. The fighting is pretty repetitive, but the rest of it, wow...
Iunno, I liked Alice. Then again, the story caught me. I love stories. Alan Wake is a pretty kickass game, but the animations are ******* atrocious. Also lol "Quantum Suicide"
Actually never noticed, I was too busy playing with my mouth open all the time - that story, holy **** - and not trying to die
Arkham Asylum and City are both worth it. BUY THEM BOTH. NOW. Bioshock and Bioshock 2 are awesome, if you don't already own them. (WHICH YOU SHOULD.) The second one goes for about 15 dollars at Gamestop, the first is probably around 8. Also, for the more niche audience, Brutal Legend is a Hack-n'-Slash/RTS hybrid based entirely off of heavy metal and its subgenres. If you like the music, you can get it for like 10 dollars nowadays, which the soundtrack alone is worth. Story is also pretty good.
I remember playing the first Bioshock a couple years back but I never got into it. But now that I'm nearly 18 I'll have to try it out again. I'll try out Brutal Legend.
The thing about Brtal Legend that you have to know going in is that it has heavy RTS elements later in the game. The reason why it did so bad at launch was that it was advertised as a hack-and-slash staring Jack Black when that was only half the game.
I really wish I could get into Bioshock, but the damn game just bores me to sleep. I guess I should give it another shot, but I just don't know if I'd enjoy it if I didn't enjoy the demo game. Also, Brutal Legend was an RTS? Wow, that had me fooled.
If you're gonna play Bioshock on PC you need to get something to increase the difficulty. The game is easy as hell.
Chiming in on Arkham again, I strongly suggest playing through Arkham Asylum first, and not simply for the references. You'll understand it well enough with that. No, I'd go so far as to say the entire game of Arkham Asylum, a great game in its own regard, is simply training mode for Arkham City. Just about everything you had available to you by the end of Asylum is instantly available in City (that is, once you actually get to suit up). The only really notable differences are lack of a triple batarang/batclaw. You can kinda get those, but only in combat, once your combo reaches a certain level, and they're not even that useful (I'd much rather take the super explosive gel, stun, or grenade). It kinda ticked me that you are incapable of stunning titans the same way between games, but eh, I deal.
