Balance Idea for Assault Bomb

    I think we can all agree that the Assault's Bomb skill is his most powerful and versatile skill available to him. Some might call it overpowered. However, I think that if anything was done to nerf its damage, radius, and/or cooldown it would lose potency. My proposition would be to make the Bomb's cooldown similar to the Support's Firebase, in that as long the Assault has a Bomb in existence, his Bomb skill will not regenerate. Once the Bomb is detonated, it will resume its normal cooldown. I would think this will help reduce double bomb shenanigans that can be currently done, but shouldn't adversely affect Bomb use as an offensive tool.

    and i third this for the second time. all in favor?

    plus, i want this to be the only nerf to the assault.

    anywho, i can agree with this nerf, maybe in place of this i could also go for a ~15% longer cooldown timer (but NOT the single-bomb idea AND the longer cooldown timer)

    no nerfs for the assault rifle, grenade launcher, charge, fly, jumping, ect. none of those are gamebreaking, the weapons are actually second-rate compared the the better weapon of another class that it is based off of.

    maybe they should apply the firebase script to the bomb, and put it in a steam update to see if its good stuff or not.

    Ermm how about no? The assault needs the power from his bomb as some players with gold armor dont take much damage from the AR alone. Also its not just used for kills it can be used for a mobility tool aswell (bomb jump anyone) I play assault so obviously i dont want one of my favourite classes nerfed, i take it you dont play that class prob just firebase babysitting.

    The assault bomb is really... monstrous. Quick cooldown, cooldown while another bomb is out, massive blast radius, big damage, throws you, lights you on fire, head crabbing.

    I would like something done to it. Just not quite sure what. OP has an interesting idea.

    The only class I don't play frequently is the Assassin, but that's because I'm not very effective as one compared to using another class. I find it amusing that you assume that I simply "babysit" a firebase all game. Just because I don't use an avatar or signature doesn't mean I'm some random person, the avatar and signature I use on other forums just aren't MNC related.

    Part of the reason I play any class is to get a sense of where the balance is. Supports do have the spammable Airstrike, but once they're used they take forever-and-a-day to recover. Sniper's Ice Traps can be disarmed by just about any explosive weapon, as well as classes with a charge ability if they know the exact point to use a charge to set it off and not get stuck. Tanks are king of cqc, and are good at long range, but that mid-range where Assaults and Gunners excel are his weakness. Gunners are vulnerable to long range weapons, as well as flanks. Assaults are second only to Assassins for general mobility, and are good at pro killing, but not so good at bot and turret killing.

    I'm not sure why you think my idea is a nerf to the Bomb. In its current state it is possible to detonate 2 Bombs in the same area within 2 seconds. Is that not potentially overpowered? If you're using it for bomb jumping, then why would you care about how this affects the bomb? You are detonating it right away to get extra jump height, so it's going to regenerate fairly quick after the fact. If you're using it to secure a location, shouldn't the Assault be somewhat vulnerable to a counterattack after detonation? If you're using it to destroy bots, then you're likely detonating it immediately, so how would this be a problem? If you get a headcrab on a pro, they're going to try to kill you to remove it, so would you not detonate it immediately to prevent this?
