I'm curious if the reason why private rooms say "Server is at capacity" when there isn't 12 people in the room is because you put a cap on poor hosts hosting abilities. For example, if Player A has a good connection and player B has a poor connection, can player A host 12 people in their lobby, while player B can only host 8? Please respond, as it will solve alot of questions regarding private matches.
It could be several things: -If you want to host, it has to be NAT Open -could be poor connections between or timeouts between service providers If this happens, quit out of Private Match and start a new one and reinvite.
Well we tried 3 different rooms, 2 hosted by our team and 1 hosted by there team and it didn't work. It sucks because that would have been my first scrim, now I have to go into that tourney match tomorrow going off of pub experience, which isn't good for competitive gaming.
To answer your question, no the number of players that can join a game is not affected by the host or client's connection quality or speed. To answer why you were getting a "server is at capacity" message I need more information. How many players could you get in the lobby? Did it get "stuck" at 11 of 12 players or was it fewer than that? Was it always the same player unable to connect? What were the NAT types of all involved players? Were there multiple NAT_Strict clients? Did any players quit and rejoin the lobby? If you can answer all or some of those questions it will help us a great deal in tracking down any potential issues.
I've had a couple times where someone was in the lobby but invisible, and appeared once the game started. Also had a few times where we couldn't invite more people to the game since it said it was full despite there being slots. Unsure of NAT types or anything like that, just know it has happened a couple times out of a dozen or two attempts.
