Assuming the person is initially good at spelling, and thus can convey their point to someone without it seeming hard to read unless you dig your eyeballs and pour your consciousness into every sentence, what is the point of perfect spelling?

I believe it is one of those things that computers can do, but it doesn't make them intellegent, as it is only a pattern and not a created intellectual idea. Any computer can be taught patterns, they never change. Creating a new, well-thought idea thats based on adaptation, experience, and observation, shows true importance.

    i understood this. did you?

you probably typed this faster than you would have if you double checked it. eh?

ps: what is this, stomp on your bro day? that couldnt have been that harmful. and "your" is spelled correctly, but its not the correct usage of that "your". the correct word choice is "you're"

I'm a journalism graduate, so it's my business to spell correctly in addition to using correct punctuation and grammar.

    Also I'm a part-time Grammar Nazi.

It's come to a point where I disregard all of your posts and skip over them in threads now. Just tellin' it likes it is.

Nobody likes a wall of text, especially if it's damn hard to read. Plus you always throw in some random paragraph referencing some game/anime/manga that nobody here is familiar with

    GRR!

yeah a period made a lot of difference in that sentence, gives it completely different connotation hu?

and journalism is ok, as far as printing newspapers and books spelling is nice. however, i see spelling mistakes in those, and nobody gets fired.

In my journalism classes at LSU, you got an automatic F for one spelling mistake. An automatic 0 if you misspelled a name.

People may get away with mistakes in their careers, but you get killed for it during college.

and college prepares you for life. biggest oxymoron ever.

besides, i always computer scanned my papers for school. how do you make a spelling error when you do that? how do you misspell a name period, if your doing something important with someone's name then it should be burned into your retinas?

and if your not using spellcheck, then type real slow and use words your damned familiar with. for journalism, you shouldnt be using TOO many fancy words anyhow, as people will need to read it without a dictionary.

It never happened to me, but I do know people who it has happened to. Those bolded/underlined words would have counted towards that F.

and c'mon now. You had to have passed the 1st grade.

So do you not know how to spell, or do you just choose not to? Serious question.

ugh. seriously. that question is the most depressing of them all. of all the spelling corrections i do on myself when you go captain obvious all over them, you should know the answer to that.

i know the ****ing difference between your, you're, and yore. if i misuse them, yes, its intentional. i got A's all throughout school, why in hell do i hafta worry about that now that im out?

proof, after the end of this post, all further posts will be grammatically correct. happy? also, while im being gramatically correct, could you do us all a lil favor and quit trolling? your losing most of what your trolling about when i type well anyway.

I just don't get why you would intentionally misspell a word.

It is not intentional. It is faster to use the form of the word that comes to mind quickest. Also, proper capitalization requires the typist to hold the Shift Key for a second, while ignoring proper capitalization can be done whilst typing with only one finger.

I may refer to myself in the third person from now on to keep that bet. It would help the capitalization habit that I have.

Finally, I understand your good spelling habit. It is similar to my bad spelling habit. I am accustomed to typing quickly without checking, while you, on the other hand, have been brainwashed to spell properly and use correct grammar.
