    <Generic introductory line here>

    Asteroid-ships (Roks):
Instead of just using then as planetary bombardment, maybe we could use the thrusters for interplanetary travel, to carry your factories to the front lines, or hollow them out as giant transport ships for your armies.

    Artificial rings:
As a very, very late-game building, you would be able to place up to 6 different rings in a planet's orbit, with cost varying exponentially to the size of the planet and the number of rings already in orbit (as the first would be the smallest ring, and the next 5 would each be larger in order to not hit the previous rings). These could have a variety of uses, such as large shields-to prevent Roks-orbital cannons for defense/near-star bombardment-think the MACs from Halo in orbit around Earth, and the giant cannon you can build in Sins of a Solar Empire-and then finally, orbital factories. These would be able to be landed on and destroyed, with the resulting debris causing massive damage to the planet below.

    Jump Jet Kbots:
Think of the Reapers from Starcraft 2, their main use would be on planets with canyons, zero-G combat (more on that later) and, of course, on defense rings, as they would be some of the few units able to hop from ring to ring without an elevator-grav lifts from Halo, basically-they would have powerful anti-building and anti-air weapons, the former for ground ops and latter for space ops
-I feel the need to clarify, these jump jets are not jetpacks, they can go up and down small cliffs on planets, but require lower gravity found in low orbit (rings) or zero-G to be effectively used, in zero-G they would basically be air superiority fighters, but in SPACE!

    Drop-pods/buildings:
Think the ODST pods from Halo or SPHESS MEHREEN drop pods from 40k, these are used to drop bigger kbots or tanks from space to the ground. The buildings, however, would basically just be dropping SupCom 1 Fatboys, sans cannons and (most) amphibious use. They can be deployed either as a stationary factory that can quickly churn out low-level units, or as a mobile transport tank/boat that can't build. These would be good for quickly getting a foothold during a planetary assault. Other variants would include vehicle and aircraft factories, turrets, shield generators, etc.
-These would be built from Shipyards (see below)
    Shipyards:
These would be the backbone of any assault, able to build drop-buildings and pods, has several unit cannons for direct insertion, and can build fighters and bombers. Very, very expensive, very, very tanky and very, very large, each player would have a maximum of two. These would have room for 8 buildings, 16 turrets or 32 drop pods before you hit your max. These would be similar to the defensive rings in that you could board them and destroy several key generators, or the unit cannons, to take it down.

I know that several of these ideas are very far in left field, but hey, no harm in thinking it, right?

Although they said we wouldnt have space ships (Pretty sure it was that) I would like to have the ability to make something for space travel. Weather it be say something like a colony ship meant just for space travel around the Galaxy and wouldnt have much for weapons as its meant for travel.

As for your drop pods im thinking something along the lines of Gundam Seed with the Zaft Mobile Suit drop pods that held 4 suits with the pods being able to be dropping resources and would stay in one piece or being able to be blown apart to have a Suit drop in on an action zone.

I like this idea, moving / relocating asteroids to other planets, complete with factories and unit cannons on-board, could almost do away with interplanetary transports if that was possible, but it would make it very difficult to stop an attack of this type since you woulod basically have to destroy the asteroid to stop the enemy

What I meant was more "artificial asteroids" in that you would move them into orbit or the like, and then they'd act as their own small map.

Many, many nukes. And also small asteroids. Or you could send in a small team of commando-type units to wreck some serious ****.

I like all these ideas, except I wouldn't give players a limit to how many of a unit they can have (the limit to the rings is ok, as an excessive amount would be unrealistic) as it gives a feeling of having too much of a controlled environment. Other than that, it's pretty ok.

But there is a limit. Its just not programmed into the game. Its called how many units can your computers memory handle. And Thank goodness they are going to put out a 64bit exe that can handle Memory sizes excess of 32GB.
