I never find myself using the grenade launcher for the assault because it shoots the darn things halfway across the level. I don't need a long range mortar, there's already one of those. Decreasing the firing distance for the grenade launcher would make it twice as effective for stalling offense or even taking on turrets. If you're playing assault you should be close enough anyway, right?
What. I find myself using the Grenade Launcher more then the Blue skill on assault. Firing that down a lane is a great way to get enemy pros' heads down and their bots dead. I almost exclusively use that when playing a defensive assault. Bouncing around corners driving people a sizable distance away out of cover, to retreat or be picked off, going the distance to slow down a push as the group of blackjacks take damage as a group. I can't think of a reason not to use the grenade launcher beyond "someone's in your face". Could just be me maybe.
Mainly my problem is they ricochet more than they bounce and i instinctively aim for feet with explosives rather than body shots. Maybe I'm a bad shot? If I shoot grenades around a corner I'm not trying to get a direct hit as much as just flush a guy out and if my grenades fly past that corner spot and end up exploding another twenty feet away from where I want to attack then it's not flushing anyone out it's just leaving me with half a clip and a charging assault with a shotgun to my head.
You'll have to turn off the little voice in your head making you shoot at peoples feet since hitting someone with the grenade makes it explode as opposed to bounce around. Take some time to stop and do a few Exhibition Blitz's using only the grenade launcher and turrets. You'll at least stop bouncing grenades past peoples feet. As for bouncing grenades around corners, that will take some practice because I don't even have it down. And if he does come charging, backpedal to keep distance, get air and Charge to get over his head quickly, or be devious and setup a Blue Skill Grenade to blast him back.
