Sometimes as an assassin i go can back grapple them, and it ends up turning into a front grapple, and they didnt turn around or anything. Ive tried it in a private match and i grappled my friend from the behind 5 times, and one ended up being a front grapple.
Normally we don't want to go in to too much detail on these kinds of things, but to prevent further confusion: a player's "back" is the opposite of the direction the player is aiming.
Yes, but why does it have to be exactly 180 degrees from where there aiming? I mean even if im 175 degrees from where there aiming, im still generally in there back area, but will still give me the front grapple, it just gets all confusing because what you would think is an easy kill, it does end up being an easy kill.. for the other guy.
I haven't run into this yet, but if it turns into a front grapple, you could just lunge the moment the grapple ends. At least it'll pick up some of the lost kills until you figure out what's causing it.
I've had this problem before too. It's also a little annoying that if I front grapple, the recovering Pro can counter before I can smoke bomb my way out of harm's way.
I've had both this and the much more desirable back grapple from the front happen to me. I've even had this really weird glitch/bug/lag where I was being grappled by a crazy support but apparently I was also grappling him at the EXACT same time and freed myself from his grapple by killing him.
Not quite that easy.. most classes can counter with their own grab or charge before the assassin lunge hits
I have also had this problem but I attribute it to lag... Just strafe jump... you will never get a smoke bomb off before they counter.
