I've noticed that if the moneyball's shields are down before overtime and I've spent some points in stealth and sprint, I can usually get to the moneyball and hit it a bit before I die. Now, I usually die quickly against a good team, but as I understand it, hitting the moneyball keeps the shields from coming back up.

I just want to know if more experienced players think it's worth it to rush in and die life after life to keep the shields down. If I'm helping my team win, I don't really care about k/d ratio, but am I helping my team win??

Just rush their base and shuriken it so you don't get killed. If you get seen, get the hell out of there and come from a different angle. >_>
And depending on what your team is doing, you may or may not be helping them.

One of my favorite games ever: my team won, and I went 13-10-57. So worth it, all I did was run in the middle of their 3 level 3 hacked 3 Rockits to tickle the moneyball with shuriken. It was pretty hysterical, especially considering my team won.

I lsot any concern for K/D and will rush the ball and die to keep it down if needed. with the sin you can effectively stay out of range, hit it with even 1 single shuriken to keep it down. You should be able to keep that thing down single handed if you keep shifting angles. Read the sin guides too I think it's BoltAction's that taught me that you should make this your number one job. (If it's someone else's. sorry  )

*Special mention to shinobi (with some Xx stuff in his name, not sure where) for being amazing at hitting the ball from one angle, switching and hitting from another. I've seen him in 8 or 10 different spots that I've never seen a sin at, map props and I didn't mean to offend (if I did.)

Yes, definitively use shurikins to tickle the ball. The best assassins I have played against can richochet the shurikin off 2-3 walls/nubs and still hit the Moneyball. Learn those angles.

If I am playing with a friend ans we KNOW we are outmatched/outskilled, this is our last resort strategy. He takes a lane and I take a lane and we clear bots. Hopefully, we get the shield down, and if so it WILL stay down. Because there is 2 of us shurkining the ball from every which way we can manage to keep the shields down. The other downside is when the other team figures out what your doing. One time a team switched classes to support and put up firebases in the spots they wold see us pop out of!

Keeping the moneyball down is my specialty. Get on their top ring with level 3 invisible, sprint, and bomb. You should be able to hit their moneyball with your shuriken and stay alive all day. Run around invisible...unload a clip. When you're spotted, smoke bomb and land in a random spot. As soon as you land, unload another clip on their moneyball. Turn invisible, run around, unload another, rinse, repeat base don what they're doing. If you have to, bail from the base, run around for 10 seconds sot hey think you bailed, and then come right back.

This works best on grenade III because you can fall back to the middle spot and go in again.

Sometimes this is the only way. If you have players that you know are doing their best to get across the map and deal damage to the moneyball, then by all means do everything in your power to keep it down. This is a strength of the assassin, and even if it doesn't directly equate to final earnings it is still a major role in team play.

However, it's very frustrating to employ this tactic while playing solo. So many wasted deaths, all for nothing...

That's one thing that separates good assassins from average ones.

How long does it take until the ball goes back up?

I think it's 30 seconds. Corrrect me if I'm wrong.

I know that it's enough time that if you die as an assassin, you can usually make it back in time to tag it once more if you rush straight over there with level 2 (3 for some maps) sprint. That really goes for all maps except Steel Peel, which has no real shortcuts to the moneyball.
