I know there are a lot of Assassin nerfs and buff threads but i wanted to say my own opinion from playing a Assassin from day one. From my experiences I've seen how great the Assassin is, and how underpowered compared to the other classes she is. Specially from her main ability, grappling. The two best examples of this are the Sniper and Assault. Both when upgraded have almost always instant kill grapples that also send you flying if you live. Assassins meanwhile, have a instant kill usually just from behind. Which is fine, but some things do need to be fixed. Since the Assassin relies on grappling, it needs better abilities like having the Assassin's grapple recharge faster and a further range with it. A lot of grapples fail due to not in range even if you would be rubbing against them. So, her grapple needs to have a bigger area to grab, not much but enough. Also, since the Assassin's charge is just a side thing, have it when you reach level three in your sword/fall damage, have it so at the end of the charge you do a grapple, like the Assault. With this, the ability to dash in midair to possibly recover from ring outs, like the tank's ability to dash in midair. Now I figure I'm going to get flamed for this at some point so I'm going to guess some of the arguments. First is well further range is unfair. But the range wouldn't be that big just enough so the Assassin does her job right. The Assassin's charge as well would be a problem with her grappling, charging, grappling. This is easy to do by making the grapple a global cool down so if you grapple you can still charge, but there wont be a grapple at the end. And then the air dash goes with ninja lore. Everything would be balanced out with this due to the fact the Assassin is that powerful. Sure if played well its devastating but to the average gamer Assassin needs some support to her. The Assassin is the Dps class of the game, and with only a sword and star launcher, it isn't the most powerful class. So yea this is something I believe needs to be fixed to improve the Assassin's chances in living and not running to her death.
everyone complains so much about the assassin being "underpowered" when she really is not. she is the only melee char in the game and is not meant to be played as any of the other characters. yea with a tank or gunner you can take dmg after dmg and not die but in all essesince a assassin is meant to run up, kill, and be gone with in seconds. she isnt meant to run around with her throwing stars killing people like the assult. allot of people dont really get the major role she plays, she is not only a tank buster, but she doest loads of dmg to turrets when the turrets are distracted and most importantly she is a game changer. with her mass dmg she does to bots with her sword she can push lanes till the money ball is breached. And im not harshing on you and i know everyone is still entitled to their own opinon but the balance in this game is amazeing. im really wanting to find where the dmg reports are so i can show everyone that the assassin is all but "underpowered"
changing the lunge to a grapple lunge would suck, do you have any idea how much that would screw up an assassins lane pushing? i for one use lunge all the time to take out bots and i HATE it when i go to grapple someone and end up grappling a bot
Why am I not surprised? Another player complaining that the assassin is "underpowerd" Have you seen xxxScorpion play? I hardly consider that underpowered at all to be honest. Learn to play your class please before you go and complain about mechanics that you have no understanding of whatsoever. Here's some tips... Step 1: Run around cloaked until you spot your victim. Step 2: Shuriken them just enough to get them to start looking around for you. Step 3: Smoke bomb jump then instantly cloak yourself. Try to land next to them preferably behind them. Step 4: Before they regenerate health grapple them as quick as you can. Re-cloak in the middle of the grapple.(Re-Cloaking isn't totally necessary it just helps a tiny bit) Step 5: LUNGE! Use the RB button to perform a quick lunge attack at your weakened foe. Step 6: If for some reason they are still alive...smoke bomb them to leave them blind and either lunge again or melee them.
I honestly don't understand why people are always saying "smokebomb them" Smokebomb takes WAY to long to use, has a MINUSCULE blind duration and is only really effective if you're not under heavy fire, and not within charge/lunge/minigun/deathblossom/grapple/slam/airstrike/shotgun/etc. range
After you have almost killed the player off some of them will start to panic. Making smoke bomb very effective in this situation. Besides it only takes like 1 second to use not even. The blind duration is more than enough to get the killing blow or 2 on a player it doesn't need to be any longer then that. The blind effect makes it easy for you to sidestep charge/lunge/minigun/grapple/airstrike/shotgun/etc...You can jump over slam if you time it just right.
I actually played with xxxScorpion last night. I got put in the same lobby as him completely by random. One game against and a couple on his team. I killed him once in the game I faced him. He went 9-something-3 that round on Steel Peel. Otherwise, it was nice having him on my team the other couple rounds.
Well, if ONE GUY can play the class exceptionally, it can't possibly be underpowered. Similarly, my buddy went 0-XX-13 as a Support, so Support can't possibly be overpowered.
I have seen so many players who have actually been good with an Assassin. However for every player that's good there's 2 newbs who use the class thinking it's supposed to be godly and take little skill to use. The fact is if there are people who have mastered the class and currently lead the leaderboards in wins.earnings then you can too.
honestly assassin is balanced most people that are complaing about it didnt even know the tricks to her to begin with. now that shes nerfed everyone crys and she is still the same as she used to be.
That's still not a sound argument. The people who have mastered the class do not make the class any less underpowered. You can be good with the absolute worst class in any game, but it's still the worst class. I used to dominate with Dan in the Street Fighter Alpha Series, a joke character who was pretty much bottom tier. It doesn't mean he was good, it just means that I could work within the parameters of a weak character. The idea of balance is that equally skilled people will have an equal chance, or roughly so. Not, I repeat NOT that some people can make it to the top of the leaderboards. Assassin is weak against more characters, has more specific and limited functionality. My mother's a real estate agent. She's the top seller in the region, with nobody at even half her combined sales. This doesn't mean the real estate market is good, just that she has the tools necessary to pull off good results in a bad market. Hell, I beat out a lot of my colleauges in terms of keeping employed as a journalist; because I was able to keep my job, newspapers must be thriving. It's not like I worked twice as hard to keep in the business or anything. I wish we could chuck the tired old canard of "X is good at it, ergo it's a good class." Sadly, I will likely be back explaining this point tomorrow, with showings of 3, 5, and 9.
Whoa, name drop yay! Mhm, rant about it while my Shurikens tear your body to shreds. On topic the Snipers 3 ice traps are really the only thing I can complain about. Take it down to two and remove the drain on my grapple...it's not even a skill...why does it drain? Edit- Sorry for the bump. I'm lost when it comes to dates.
