I have been having issues with grappling immediately after a lunge when playing as assassin. Several times today I tried to lunge grapple, but instead I lunged toward the opponent and got grappled instead. Is there some glitch that affects a lunge grapple?

If I understand correctly, a lunge grapple is executed by immediately pressing the grapple button after the lunge button. If I am doing this wrong, what is the proper sequence of buttons?

No, you're doing it right. Lunge then as soon as contact is made with the lunge, grapple.

On a similar note, I've been experiencing the other side of that problem. 5-6 times today I have grappled assassins out of the lunge grapple combo. lolringout!

The developers should really fix that. Being able to grapple someone in the middle of a charge or lunge is really stupid.

I think it's a timing or lag thing. I still took the damage from the lunge but was able to counter with a grapple (one grapple was followed by a melee  ).

If I remember correctly, this is actually intentional. As I believe it should be.

I always thought it was a latency/host issue.

I.E. I believe I charged that assassin but to that assassin, for a split second on their connection, I hadn't charged yet.

HostileParadox has a moment in his Smedley's montage where he blasted a sin with his shotgun, got grappled, then fell out of the grapple because he had killed the assassin somehow at the same time as she grappled him.

I played more assassin today and I still got grappled during a lunge. This other assassin on the enemy team had figured out how to grapple me mid-lunge. There was no way for me to kill this guy except to lunge-grapple him from the back...... talk about annoying and frustrating.

Another issue that I kept having was that I would walk up to a gunner's backside and grapple. For some reason, it kept turning into a front grapple. It was very frustrating because the lag was pretty bad, so I couldn't jump in time to avoid the slam. Therefore, I became the enemy teams target.

Can anyone tell me why the assassin is such a glitchy class? It seems like the
bomb-jump works maybe 50% of the time. I have had 3 instances today where an assassin grappled me while they were cloaked, and they stayed cloaked throughout and after the grapple.

The Assassin seems more like a "glitchy" class because she is a very skill-heavy class. When I say skill-heavy, I mean you are almost constantly using one or more of her skills at any one time. Any other class has problems with their skills being affected when you introduce lag into the equation. For example, an Assault spawning without fly, Supports hack being "eaten" by a turret or firebase, not to mention grapples of any kind.

When you combine Dash with Cloak then Lunge-Grapple someone, that's 4 skills being used within a very short period of time. If even one of those skills "malfunctions", it is going to drastically change the outcome of the confrontation.

    That's just my guess.

Interesting. Does anyone know if they fixed the grapple issues in the PC version?

Well, since grapple issues are generally lag related, I would think dedicated servers would help to prevent that. I'm not certain though. I don't own the PC version.

I hope we get dedicated servers for the Xbox 360. Every game I have played with dedicated servers has had little to no lag. I think if we could get more people to buy the game for the Xbox, we might get a little more attention as far as updates and servers go. I am considering buying the PC version because I think it might be slightly less glitchy. The Xbox version is definitely fun though.

Lag-related. I got chased by a forum-goer to the bot spawners on LazerRazor. With only a sliver of health remaining I deployed and Minigunned him, but the killfeed showed me suiciding by melee. That was strange.

It's far worse when you're a Tank, and you get plucked out of a Charge by an Assassin.

kckzi is amazing as assassin. I was playing silver armor passive 2 tank and he lunge grappled me from the back and killed me. I charged him in another fight and he then grappled me mid-charge. It was insane, but fun to actually have a challenge.

Later, I fought another batch of people and got MVP as assassin on grenade 3. It was funny because I made a lvl 64 jackbot sniper ragequit. I figured out how to get around the map with little to no resistance and I back-grappled him at least 4 times.
