tbh with the recent nerf to the assassin. her game seems pretty much limited to lane pushing, most often your main prey (snipers, supports) are near turrets which leaves you to kill assaults and gunners. since the assault can just fly around and the gunner can survive a back grapple you can kill literally nothing. for those of you who argue that the assassin is all about pushing lanes and i should "learn to play my class" she does that very well but what happens when another pro on the opposite team decide to lane push? you have no offensive capabilitys to counter them apart from flukiley back grappling them and hope they dont have gold endoresments on. and why lane push when you can play the assault and own bots with your nade launcher or set up a firebase as support. i see some people saying "well you should team up" this just stuffs them up even more, if the enemy team is actually working together and she grapples someone, the best case scenario is she takes him out and dies in the process. and if its 6v6 the team is now 1 down because the only thing she can do is lane push, even if she does grapple someone and it kills you now have a 15 second wait time before you can do it again. hopefully you guys will prove me wrong.
Someone else posted this vid. To me it's a clear example of how the assassin is still a powerhouse. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0VswD3qLuZE
A gunner with an Armor gold endorsement and 3/4's of a white bar (or more) will live through an assassination attempt. But that requires teamwork... and that's overpowered.... right?
The Assassin has not been nerfed yet so what evidence are you basing your claims upon? Pure speculation? Also, the Assassin has been buffed other than having multiple glitches fixed. Please get your facts straight in the future (you know, the future, as when the update will actually happen).
Because a lot of us Assassin's who are nervous about this update have tried playing this way to test the waters and the waters are very bloody for us. The buff really isn't all that impressive either.
So basically you are admitting that most Assassin need to use glitches to be successful. I can't wait for this update!
You obviously don't know the difference between a "Glitch" and a "Bug" and it may have been unintentional, but ATM it's not a bug, it's a feature. a feature that MANY people will miss. read the forums, a VAST Majority of the posters, many of whom don't even play Assassin, agree that it should be left as it currently is.
But thanks to this fix there not alot of Assassins camping near spawns anymore getting free kills when there surrounded by Lazerblazers turrets and getting away from it all scotch free.
As this video mainly just shows how good an Assassin is when playing with a team that has great teamwork and excellent ways of protecting other teammates while still progressing on offense. Any class should be great with great teamwork and 3 other plays on the lane to help you out. Other than that i agree with Assassin's are mainly put out there for pushing lanes, which needs to be altered in some how. Of course i have no ideas on how, i'm not really going to focus on ways to change them as i am not a Dev.
Ugh, why do gamers feel privileged to exploit any mechaic that was unintentionally left in a game? No it most certainly is not a feature. In fact if you took a look at the How to Play section and select Turrets you will find this under the Lazer Blazer Turret heading: "Hanging out by allied Lazer Blazers is a great way to deter enemy Assassins." Now how can hanging out by a Lazer Blazer deter an enemy Assassin if they can cloak during their grapple animation?
I, and I'm sure many other assassins, didn't know it was a 'glitch' when we discovered it. It seemed fairly natural, unbuggy and fed into the assassin's gameplay style so it was pretty easy to assume it was intentional. I didn't even know it wasn't until the patch notes came out and better yet I initially thought the person who told me was joking This is probably the root of a lot of people's 'entitlement'; it wasn't a glitch to them but a normal part of the game. It'd be like finding out in the patch notes one day that they'd removed the ability to move while using the Heal/Hurt gun because, hey, it was a glitch and not actually intended behaviour. I'd bet if that happened a lot of supports would get hot under the collar and 'entitled', wouldn't you? :3
She got a point, Alot of support players would be pissed if they had to stay in one spot to use there gun. But The assassins cloaking during grapple was unintended. Since she uncloaks the moment you grapple said player. Wouldn't make sense if the assassin would uncloak and then re cloak during her grapple. So it was pretty obvious that something was not right here.
I'm not so sure... after all, you don't uncloak when you miss a grapple and why not, really? After the first time I did it I thought "y'know... it does seem odd that you couldn't cloak after the initial blow now that I think of it. Why wouldn't you?" I mean, it's bizarre enough that you have to go through a lengthy animation, nevermind that you have to sit open to everything around you while you do it... heck, in some games you and your victim get complete invincibility while stuck in a grapple animation (e.g. Rakion, a rather awesome, if old, korean online action game) :3 Doesn't really matter now though... we know for sure it's not intended and amusingly the team seemed sort of puzzled that people thought it was supposed to be like that XD That said, the actions are kind of in muscle memory now so it's a little difficult to stop myself pressing the button just as part of the grapple action
Yeah, I second everything said in this post. Not really. I figured you lose the cloak when you grapple (ie attack) and recloak after the attack. After I lunge, I can recloak immediately, it seemed/felt natural that I was doing it.
that will lose a lot of viability when the dagger lunge is nerfed as well and that video is really not relevant to the discussion of cloaking while assassinating, because that guy's team was so dominant overall that there wasn't even any opportunity for him to do anything that would require it
They can still do that. They just need to be faster if you don't come out the door they're standing near. LBs can't hit on the top rim.
