I am new to this game, but have been playing a good amount of it. I enjoy the assassin class the most for its game play alone! I enjoy every little bit of it. I also have noticed it has gone through some changes revolving around the grapple. I do agree that the front shots can be blocked for armor endorsements. However i do not see why the assassin cannot 1-shot opponents from the back all the time. Now i understand if a tank ranks up to 3 it will be more likely to not 1 shot something with heavy armor, however if i go against a support or assault and get them from behind and don't 1 shot due to the armor endorsements your almost 75% to not get the kill, you will get power housed by a separate move like a dash or shotgun or slam immediately afterward. So what i'm saying is please allow 1 shot assassin grapples from behind!, even if there is an armor endorsement in effect. by the way, i love MNC
I don't think they'll ever do this, because the Assasin's cloak and Dash easily allows the class to get behind their enemy unlike any other class, the class as well having excellent capabilities in destroying bots and turrets. Here's a tip: to guarantee a kill with a backstab, first land a lunge with a sword. No class will survive that, then.
i agree that the sword has some damage with the dash grapple, however sometimes its supprising at what some people can survive. Its even with a sword i get this issue however, i have become a big fan of that dash move especially for full frontal assassination attempts. The dagger is seriously underpowered against someone with armor endorsements at the start of the game, i couldnt tell you how many people alone yesterday survived half of my grapples to just either charge me, or blow me up. I just really see as even tho they are bot killers and great turret killers with juice or shurikens, the main move they have isnt always the best. I guess even tho Uber might not make it a 1shot kill i would like to see it maybe have a little more damage to adjust for bad situations, i love the ninja but sometimes it feels like playing a sheet of paper lol
i believe this has been brought up before. some guy referenced the spy's backstab from team fort 2. i have seen plenty of assassins lunge me and then assassinate me, which works. some do it very well and even seem threatening when im trying to get a shot and they sporadically appear in random places at random times, like trying to hit an enemy that teleports. the tank may be frustrating to the assassin, but hes supposed to be. taking that away would be like taking the paper out of rock-paper-scissors. the tank falls to the gunner, the gunner falls to the assassin, the assassin falls to the tank. nobody likes a game of rock-scissors. one, two, three! aww, your rock, you win again. one, two, three! we both have been rock and ended in a tie the last 3000 games, cant we play something else? thats how i feel MW2 has become with the ump45. why use the m16, the intervention sniper, the uzi, the m240, or the spas12, if the ump45 has the same damage, clip size, rate of fire, penetration, and spread, as all of those combined?
Assassins are not supposed to assassinate people, what would give you that idea? Sarcasm aside. Here are some tips that may help ease your frustration. Before you get the katana, there are only two classes you can kill effectively now. Supports and assaults. The assault is tricky, as he survives a backstab only with lvl3 armor. You will have to lunge first vs lvl3 armor. Don't attack tanks, kill them or pester them with shurikens or leave them alone. The new death blossom buff means they will two shot you even if you have gold armor. Honestly though, the assassin is the worst proVspro class and fairly difficult for newer players imo. There are several guides In the strats section about the assassin that you might find helpful.. I myself still have an outdated one sitting in there.
Bolt i have been reading a lot of your articles and i do enjoy the knowledge you have given me on playing assault, besides the few things i have picked up on it is really refreshing to get a more experienced view on the matter. My only argument is the katana should be able to assassinate, the dagger would be nice but its a lower level weapon. I do ignore tanks lately as i have found them to be the anti-assassin. It was hard as hell to start out as an assassin and it was probably a poor choice, however i feel as it was great to start with because now im normally the better assassin in the arena during gametime. Im going to look up a few more facts youve thrown on the forums. Thanks for a solid reply!
1. Dash is slow. Cloak is loud. You cannot "easily" get behind an enemy that has any hearing ability or motor skills. 2. A lunge + backstab will not necessarily kill a Tank.
1. I actually do think the cloak would be better if a bit quieter. With this, a patient assasin should be able to outflank an enemy with cloak, deactivate it a small distance away, dash to the enemy, lunge and grapple from behind. I don't think it would surely ever be balanced for the assasin to consistently instantly kill with a grapple from behind as long as they have both dash and cloak, however. 2. Do you mean while juiced or without a katana? Because if not, Eka said a lunge and grapple from behind with a katana should always kill a tank (except they are juiced, that I am sure). Thought I haven't verified it myself.
This. I have failed to kill a Tank with any Armor endorsement with the lunge + backgrapple, and it's rather irritating because killing the Tank after that is extremely difficult. Difficult, but not impossible.
Ya overhealed or with armor tank will survive the katana (Dumb imo) The sin needs to be able to freaking slash with right trigger while in a jump performed while sprinting! I have been using more shurikens, unlocked my 1000 title
