I saw just some videos of the alpha and how it works an looks like. Most of it is already really good. But then I saw that someone used differnt artillery pieces.
Some kind of mobile artillery and the Lobber.
The problem with these is that the shells are ***** like shaped. You want a gun with a 36 meter long barrel to shoot shells not marbles or rockets. I am concerned about that this is still an alpha version but it seemed to me that it should be so. And on this point I am not confident about it.

I also like to fight like in WWI with trenches and massive bombardment. And the sound of these old shells (wizzzzz- ard huii whoom) could pe a part of the game. Who saw the film "All Quiet on the Western Front /Im Westen nichts neues " can understand what I am supposed to express.
And now I want to know what you are thinking about.

I am sorry for writeing and grammar mistakes.

    See you on the battlefield.

Pretty sure they're place holder projectiles due to Alpha.

    It is alpha.

Assume that everything, even the buildings and units that your are playing with, are placeholders.

Even if they are placeholders, it's worth commenting on things you don't like. That's what game testing is for.

rmj this is the sprit I want. I want big mortars and great cannons with a awsome sound and highly explosive shells witch do not use their freight for extra propellation if it is not a nuke launcher.

With friendly regards Paul von Hindenburg

Artillery batteries in organized approach (spotter plane plus radar forward observer plus 6 arty units) are totally overwhelming. Land Air Battle Doctrine (Fort Sill, OK - USA) makes artillery insanely powerful (commander kill in 10 seconds of exposure).

Artillery is hyper-accurate at this time. Some randomness and blast damage would be good, and cratering (deformation of terrain, limitation of blast radius after bombardment to represent cratering). Making the initial attack effective, and subsequent pounding less effective. Otherwise it is overwhelming vs direct fire value.

Smoke would also be nice. Bombard the enemy with smoke rounds, to block LOS and/or radar (a common tactic vs IR and precision guided munitions). Mine field deployment by arty vehicles would also be a fair consideration (clusterbomb minelet via artillery delivery) to deny or deter fields of entry.

Tanglewire and trench building (given the nature of scale, and bombardment from space) would also be a fair idea. Giving small units a chance to survive the limited scope of battle and support power of air and sea (very powerful in this relatively small battlefield of current planet sizes).

Must I quote that "we will fight in the shade" thing from 300?
