I'm excited about the Kinect! I've had mine since Christmas and I'm getting the power supply for it Tomorrow. ^_^ But I'm going to be hooking it up to my computer, and making awesome hacks with it. Hopefully the Windows drivers are in a good enough state, lest I have to boot Linux. I don't count, do I? [PS:] Ballmer isn't as evil as Jobs. Microsoft didn't apply for patents for spyware, but Apple did.
I love how that peripheral exists and it doesn't even work. I heard Kinect needs to see your feet. Raft covers your feet. Entire R&D department is fired.
This. Kinect is very technologically impressive and has huge potential, however it's success depends on the games made for it. So far I've been very disappointed in most of what I've seen.
Destined for the same fate as the Wii? A cool gimmick, but no real lasting appeal or application? I have yet to see anything on Kinect that is remotely interesting, save for Dance Central, but that doesn't justify the $150 cost for the hardware.
I think the best thing about the Kinect currently is the hacks. Check out this mo-cap one - gives smaller studios basic motion capture at a fraction of the cost of a full set-up.
