At the moment my commander is eternally stuck hovering over a lava planet as I cant get the astreus to drop him. I have it hovering above the ground and keep clicking unload but it refuses to drop him. I have managed to drop units onto the moons of my main planet though. And that took tons of fiddling with as well I wish we could just use the orbital launcher as a space railgun.
click unload, then left click the ground. at the moment it does not prompt you that your next click does anything. At least this is how it has worked for me
Yea, its a bit odd at the moment. Im sure they will improve it. Id also like to see it one use, or alteast require a new rocket to send back up into orbit.
Yep. Orbital controls are super hacky right now. Elijah was on vacation while we were getting orbital working. The behavior will get better soon.
Beta. I agree though, it's floaty as heck and doesn't feel like a spacecraft ought to. I want to see something large, something that feels like huge engines are firing to lift something into orbit and carry it to another world. That's all fluff though . . . Does kinda make me laugh every time I launch one with a rocket, and then it floats back down for the cargo, and just floats back up again. One use would be nice, though it should be much cheaper to launch an existing transport, rather than build a new one.
Nobody, including the devs, think that this is even a decent control scheme. It will get better as the beta progresses though, which is the beauty of beta. We actually get to SEE that happen. to me, that's worth it.
