I tried it and the flames were in the correct position. Even afterwards too when using the Chronocam.
So there you have one data point.

Possibly useful info (but probably not)
    Kubuntu 13.10
INFO OpenGL Vendor: Intel Open Source Technology Center
INFO OpenGL Renderer: Mesa DRI Intel(R) Ivybridge Mobile
INFO OpenGL Version: 3.0 Mesa 10.2.0-devel
INFO OpenGL Shader Language Version: 1.30

I can's see any animation on the impact, just fog of war, they should make some sort of "cinematic" cut scene to better view the impact.

I see the explosion every time now. What graphics settings are you using? What are your pc specs?

I'm running it on uber settings and my specs are Amd FX 8350 at 4GHz and 8gb ram and Amd Radeon HD 7800 series and windows 7 64bit..
I can hardly stay at 30 fps and any sort of movement with any units will drop it to 10-20 fps and that's just with one AI and the same results with any amount of plants/moons. If i try more than two AI's the game crashes.

Are you running game though Steam? Did you tried non-Steam launcher? (link)

Halleys don't have too advanced effects, but they're should be animated.

Any chance you can make some video?

I wonder if it shows up on lower settings. Maybe the client is locking up to prepare the animation, but by the time it is ready, the explosion is over? Just a wild guess.

Yep that sounds about right. :) Just a placeholder effect for now, I think.
