Been playing some advance wars using an emulator and such, and just wondering if anyone here knows of some good/fun native android rts/tbs games. Chkdsking 4tbs of hard drives is SOOOOOOO boring
The only one I have any experience that I can comment on is the Android version of Battle for Wesnoth. It's a pretty darn good implementation of the game, with many of the resources being directly shared with the PC version. The full version does cost $3.99, but if you prefer, you are free to download the source code and compile the full game yourself, at no charge. If you're unsure about the gameplay, you can try out the PC version, as it's completely free, and see what you think. It plays like a cross between Advance Wars and Fire Emblem, but is closer in strategic depth to Unity of Command. (I've been meaning to make a post about Wesnoth for a while now, as it has become one of my favorite TBS games . . .) Otherwise, I'd be interested to hear if anybody else has any other suggestions. I'm rather curious about the ArmA Android game, as I'm a big fan of the ArmA series. It's a tactical rather than strategic game, but it still looks quite fun. I'd also be very interested to hear if there are any games with a play-by-mail feature, like Frozen Synapse had. I can't always devote myself to playing a full game immediately, so having the option to play over a period of time would be great. (I remember the Chess.com app had this, and I was totally hooked on it for ages. Sadly, their ads became a bit too intrusive, so I had to set it aside.)
BoW looks interesting. I'll definitely check it out! A map editor would be a plus for replay value, but 200+ scenarios seems like it would keep my bus rides and computer stuff unboreing for a while
