I've run into this issue consistently enough that it makes me livid every time it happens. If your under fire when using the annihilator, you can be killed after pressing it, be charged the money for it, even hear the sound of it, sometimes even hear micky cantor getting a hard on, and NOT GET IT. Your assailant will stroll over whistling jaunty tunes and buy it right after you did. Leaving you utterly B-slapped by the game in every way imaginable. You respawn with one hell of a chip on your shoulder. The point is this. Either it needs to be coded better to GIVE the annihilator, or that it DOESN'T charge you if it refuses to give it to you. YOU SHOULD NEVER....EVER be charged for it and NOT get it, the two should NOT be coded in such a way that they can be mutually exclusive. Mucho Gusto
quoted for emphasis. besides, i think if i know what causes it then it should be easy to fix. shouldnt it be possible to make the annihalator guranteed to fire the second your purchase button is registered to the host, and make it take your money 1 second after the button is registered? if its just changing some numbers in the game mechanics, please do?
to take your money without giving you the annihalator? if you mean generally they made it that way to prevent someone from pressing it easily while being shot, then they could do it the other way around too. they could activate the anihalator with a set delay (however long the button pressing animation is), and still give the money taking script an even longer delay. the anihalator should begin to actually fire in any case, before taking your money. not too big of a delay where you can buy a skill with the anihalator money, but a delay where your money wont go to thin air.
If you die before the full animation of pressing the button it will take your money and nothing will happen. It's as much attended or not a "need to fix" because it's been know since release month.
i think for the pc, i might be able to find what causes it and fix it. im just saying, if it is some number in the engine for the annihalator that can be changed, and it really is easy, then throw it in there when another update is made if it could be done?
This is by design. There's a 1/2 second window of opportunity to take someone out as they are pressing the Annihilator after they have been charged. Solution... be more careful when you use it.
lol you are evil people! you could have just made the game not register a press AND not take your money until 4 seconds after you press it. that immobilizes you for 4 seconds while the animation goes on, meaning you certainly die trying to activate it during a gunfight and you wont be charged nor will it fire. no offence, but if you would do that to hard-working objective-style players, why wont you do it to cheap assholes that buy juice? make them hafta press a button animation to get juice, and if they die while pressing they lose money and the machine stays up. on second thought, that would work against those without map control. right... o well. still feels wrong. i feel sorry for the original poster.
I think the problem is that you get charged the money, but don't get the annihilator, not that you can be killed while using it. Getting killed as you hit it and the annihilator failing to go off is fine. The player probably shouldn't be charged $250 for it.
its an intended feature. its in the game so enemies who know better can camp the annihalator and try doing that to people, like killing people off of buying juice. and i still believe this guy nails my opinion... Mucho Gusto.
4 seconds? I think you need a new stop watch. All button presses work this way. Spawning Bots, Ejectors and the Annihilator.
