I was a bit worried about the release of PA because all the negativity I found here on the forums. Still, Just played a match against the AI and I was amazed about how far PA got and how great the game already are. Congrats to Uber! i game is more then what was sold on the kickstart!
This was the plan all along! Make bots op and boring before the best patch so it makes Uber look better! trolololol
People say bots are OP but in my experience tanks seem to win every time. The bot only approach only works if you can use their mobility to avoid enemy death balls.
Bots are incredibly powerful right now, but only in large numbers. If bots are outnumbered, they'll be mowed down very easily. The problem with this is that bots are very easy to gain large numbers of due to the fact that they're built incredibly quickly and the factories are easy to spam out. Vehicles are more expensive, so getting a huge number of them is more difficult, which makes anyone focusing on vehicles get outnumbered very quickly. Removing the AA abilities of doxen wouldn't really help the matter as then doxen armies will just be torn apart by bombers. Maybe reducing the power of their AA weapon would work? That way some bombers will survive, the numbers of doxen will fall but they won't be torn apart, and by the second pass the rest of the bombers will be blown up. Or maybe remove the dox's AA capability altogether and instead add in a T1 flak bot that has a moderate AoE AA weapon, that costs more to make than a Spinner, but works better at taking out large amounts of passing aircraft. That way the bots have an AA weapon and Uber doesn't have to worry about it being "redundant".
But if you do the maths you will see that it goes 4-5 doxen on 1 tank, and then that one tank will be cheaper than 4-5 doxen, +having greater range, killing the frontlinedoxen before those can fire. And if bots have AA unit it should be both cheaper, more of a "luck" unit due to high firerate but low accuracy and much more fragile than a spinner (in health/metal).
Dox are very powerful on maps with a large amount of water. I got utterly obliterated attempting to go Naval on a primarily water map against a player who ended up using Dox. Maybe its because it was a 1v1 and i was the only focus of the enemies aggression, but despite having some access to land i was still overwhelmed by Dox. Ships were being totally ineffective at stopping them, my economic structures succumbing quickly due to attacks from all sides and GG soon following. I was utterly outplayed in several ways, there is no questioning that, but their amphibious nature and ability to fire underwater should be reviewed when naval becomes more fleshed out. I mean really... infantry bots a better than naval on a 90% water planet? :V
Bots can be easily overcome by artillery and point defense, they're pretty squishy units. They're good filler for your army, but when you run into any defenses you really need vehicles to pack the extra punch. I've tried pushing heavy bot armies only to have them completely wiped out by artillery before they even reach the enemy base. Vehicles can take more of a beating and can do more damage to structures.
