Alt-tab out of the game!!

I would say this is one of the most importent things to add to the game being able to alt-tab out of the game without it crashing. Many times when I want to join my friends I load up the game and use Steam to autojoin when a slot is open but I can't alt-tab out of the game and surf the web etc. while waiting.

This is a big deal for me, my mates and many others.

Or just make it so you can auto join in your friendlist in steam without being in the game would also fix this.

Currently joining the server in friendlist on Steam just opens the game when a spot is opend and not the server. So you have to join again when the games opend and by that time there's no more open spots.

I can alt-tab just fine.

Windows 7, aero disabled, Nvidia GPU

Hmm.. Everyone I know all crashes when trying to do. Is it ingame you can or can you do it in the menu as well?

I can do it from within a game and from the menu.

For me it's hit and miss.

Sometimes I can alt-tab out and get back in later without it crashing.
But I generally have to wait at least half a minute before the game comes back up
when it does work.


Other times when I've alt-tabbed out for a long time and then try to get back in,
I can't even pull up the game screen. I just stay in windows explorer and
end up having to use the task manager to close it (it's unresponsive to right click, close).

Could be because I havn't waited long enough for the game to appeir.. but when I ctrl+alt+del it show the game as not responding..

Anyway this would be a nice feature to add in the game. I've seen a few other games that fixed this so I know it should be possible.

I have the same setup alt tabbing works fine for me too.

I thought it was mainly people with the ATi cards that have issues but now you mention it I wonder if aero has anything to do with it other than looking stupid and being less functional.

I have an ATI card and aero enabled.

For me though, alt-tab generally works more than it doesn't.

From the reports we've received on Alt-Tab issues it's been ATI cards.

Ahh.. That makes sense now since I also have an ATI card.
Any chance that this issue will be fixed in the future? Cause it's kinda a big deal for some people

*edit I've disabled the areo by googling how to do it and after done that I can alt-tab out of the game and made the taskbar to autohide cause it looks horrible now.. but it's working 70% of the times.. Hurray

I play it windowed at 1280 x 800, so I've no problem tabbing out myself.

I have Nvidia and it's maybe 70/30 on it working/not working alt tab wise.
I know if you do it twice fast it doesn't like it rofl.

When I Alt-tab while in a game, I get disconnected every time when I tab back .
Have also an ATI card.

i run a 5850 with an outdated driver and i can alt tab fine also (correction: alt enter is what i used, not alt tab), maybe im just lucky on this one.

I cannot ever alt+tab, but, sometimes, alt+enter will work (switching between windowed mode).
