Im sure this topic has come up somewhere, but i'm too lazy to look for it.

I was playing on Spunky. Had my airstrikes at lvl 3. Im overhealing a batch of blackjacks when I spot an enemy sniper on the sneaky ledge of his base, facing our bot spawn. I toss an airstrike, trying to land it on the ledge and maybe scare him off. It was a good throw, but just a lil wide. Missed the ledge by about a foot.
I was pleasantly suprised when my airstrike hit right as the beacon passed from view. It appeared to detonate instantly as the beacon left the map, it killed the sniper. I got the same guy 2 more times in the same manner. The last one I just threw in the general direction and he got bombed.

Maybe this is a widely used tactic, and ive just never seen it being done. My throws were close, but they went past the ledge, not under it. It just seemed like he was doomed if I threw one in that direction.

    Anybody else see this?

Yeah, I've seen it done before. Often times a Support can control the ledges by tossing airstrikes under the map.

I got no problem with it. It has limited uses and certainly doesn't break Support. As has been said, GrenADE III is the best place for it, though there are others. If I'm gonna be slammed out of any arena, I'd love to try the hail mary play of throwing it under the main stuff, hoping for a miracle. It's also a little useful in Steel Peel's center ring.

I've seen something like it. Awhile ago, I was on G III and a support went to the middle of the map and continued to jump, hopefully avoiding the ejectors. When looking to shoot at him (I was a gunner), he'd simply throw an airstrike on the jumplift that was directed towards me and kill me. I would even stand far from where a person would land if they took the lift, and it still killed me. I don't think it had that big of radius. Nonetheless he just stood there all game getting immediate kills by throwing 'phantom' airstrikes at me this way. You could not see or hear them come towards you yet you died instantaneously when the support did the animation of throwing one.
I was soooo confused and could not dodge them either. Cheapest way to control the middle of the map that way.

I used to use it ALL THE TIME to get rid of camping Assaults and Snipers on the back walkway of Steel Peel.

That sounds like SXD. He was the master of it. Very annoying...

So u just toss it off the map in their general direction? Immortal just got a new toy!

I assume u have to land it under them so they're in the area of the strike. I could totally see doing this on G3. Ill have to work on this when I have a whole bunch of extra airstrike beacons lying around.

Yep, it's awesome for Grenade 3 and Steel Peel. Just don't be a ***** like Myyy Mommyyyyy or whatever and do NOTHING but that.

Just tried this out on G3. That is waaaaay too easy. How has this not been fixed yet? Yeah, it's situational, but from what I can tell, it takes very little skill. I doubt it will become part of my regular arsenal, but that is convenient.

Well, what else would they do? All things off the map = dead. Including skills. The only thing I can think of is a death wall, of sorts. One skills could stick on.

Still, LOVE getting Snipers on their perch hanging over the middle on Grenade.
