Air Craft Carrier

    I would like to have a carrier. It could maybe have the following uses:

    Produce Energy

    Provide the Best mobile Radar on Water

    Repair Air units

    Transport land units (maybe repair them?)

    Provide Anti-nuke to protect a strong fleet. Right now we have a lot of good ships to protect.

    Produce Air Units (Tier 1? Tier 2? Depends on the line up?)

    If we have fuel or ammo it would refill units that are low.

    Maybe air units will be required to refill ammo.

    Maybe it could be submersible. This could make your air force secret.

    Maybe maybe maybe it could fly.

    If ships had land mobility this thing would too. Big if.

    It might have some torpedoes, deck AA or small battery of cannons but mostly to deter small groups of Tier 1 units (not cost effective as a direct fighter).

    In Total Annihilation the carrier repaired air that landed on it, gave energy and gave intel. It was kind of like a mini-mobile nuclear facility with some benefits.

    In Supreme Commander carriers built air and had small weapons. It also provided fuel to air units.

    So far we don't have a carrier in our sand box so I was wondering if there are any thought on it. It may not be needed for game play but it is very iconic.

    The big question is, what does it do?

    Sounds pretty overpowered imo.

    Maybe if it had no antinuke, and didn't produce energy? I think every single aspect in PA should be able to be attacked from multiples angles (destroy economy, use missiles, etc), and this idea of an almost self sufficient base doesn't sit right with me.

    an aircraft carrier that is actually useful as an aircraft support unit would be nice. staging facilities and aircraft carriers really need a rework, providing a buff of some sort would be good, and obviously making it do something besides aircraft support would work as well.

    In real life aircraft carriers are used as mobile staging facilities because of fuel limitations and mobility -- aircraft carriers are fast.

    It'd be interesting if staging facilities were important in someway that didn't add lots of complexity and micro but added depth.

    A fuel duration buff for staging facilities could be good too, meaning if your aircraft haven't staged before they can increase their regular fuel duration in staging as well as refuel and repair. Combined with fast carrier movement and carrier AA would make them solid air support, but I still feel like if they could be factored into air movements somehow it'd be really cool.

    There carriers should be just like the one's from TA (Cave-dog thought of everything in the vanilla version :D ) if there was any differences, it would be one more air repair pad. :p

    The TA carriers never lived up to their name since they never "carried" anything; they were just a pair of floating repair pads. If PA were to have carriers, I'd much prefer a docking-style model (à la the SupCom experimental carriers).

    Alternately, perhaps one of the naval engineering units could have a landing pad so that they could repair both vessels and aircraft. Then there would be no need for carriers at all, even on water-world maps where land is scarce.
