I am mainly a skirmish vs the AI with friends player and really enjoyed the AI in SupCom 2 there were some minor items I wish I could have toggled or tweaked via a slider though: Toggle items: AI build artillery on/off - AI would build artillery instead of sending in units to fight mainly happened on the shorter range maps AI build Nukes on/off - late game the AI would stop sending units and just mass produce nukes sending upwards of 6 at a time. Slider based: AI aggressiveness - full value the AI sends in units to fight even if it does not calculate favorable odds minimum value would have the AI turtle. late game AI in supcom would stop sending units as if I understand it correctly it never felt like it ha enough units to combat my army.
The AI you see is currently hot-out-of-the-oven, most recent build. There's a good chance Sorian is actually working on the AI's routines right now, as we type. Well, actually, I think most Uber employees work a 9-5 or 9-7 day now, so maybe not. Building an AI is hard. Building an AI with slider settings is harder. Building an optimized, low-CPU-cost AI is even harder. Building a genuinely adaptable AI is possibly one of the hardest things to do ever. Sorian has said he will do all 4 of these things.
MushrooMars thanks for the reply I completely understand the AI is bare bones right now, I just wanted to toss those items out there having played a lot against Sorians AI from SupCom 2 and hopefully with the AI being early enough in development to have a shot at even one of those things even being thought about. It easy for me to ask for this stuff and call it "minor" but I get the actual programming and logic behind it all is a whole different matter. If none of it possible thats fine by me I'll just be glad I get to play against another Sorian AI.
or an option for the AI to match your facilities and units, or an option for the AI to base it's army size based on a ratio to yours, possibly even greater, the ability to choose whether an AI attacks with large amounts of units, small units different ways a lot of the time or simply defends and falls back on orbital or interplanetary means... I only say options because it would decrease the amount of cross communication as to what the AI should do, and what the servers have to actually load and use. but I'm also not a programmer, these ideas came fast, and the work would come as fast as it can because I know you at uber are dedicated and hard working, so take your time if you ever consider this one, there's a lot more, More important things I'm sure people would rather see, other then me grinning with AI optional glee
