It'd be fun to be able to practice some crossfire without always having to find a server with a good game going. It'd be neat if I could just add a few AIs that played as a random class to both teams.
Yup, we had AI in Demigod and it didn't put up much of a fight although it cheated. Making a good AI for MNC would take A LOT of development time I think. YOu would have to teach the AI strategy, tactics and proper use of skills on top of the 'normal' shooter AI. And just think about all the jumppads, Annihilator, Ejectors...
An AI would never beat a good player, but one of the gametypes patched in to UT3 had gameplay not too dissimilar to MNC. The AI in that was mean. It would farm kills all game long, and then at the last minute go absolutely insane and charge into the enemy base and royally mess them up.
Demigod was awesome. We put a ton of time into that game. And it's a good example. The AI in Demigod got the job done. It didn't matter if it wasn't as good as players...it was still something to play against. If we needed more challenge, we'd just stock the AI team with more bots and set them to the cheating difficulty. But the fact is, sometimes you just needed some bots to play against. Like when it's midnight, and we are drunk as hell, and have no business playing online. Or when our kids want to play. It gives you the option of just playing the game and having fun in situations where going online would just be frustrating and piss off your teammates. And honestly it was good practice. Again, I put in my time learning Demigod vs the bots before taking it online. This game does, thankfully, have blitz for that. But a lot of the game play is missing from blitz, like attacking the enemy's moneyball and learning the layout of the crossfire arenas. TL;DR: Please put in AI, even if you can't justify putting in the time making them all that challenging. I'm talking just give them max skills (so no skill purchasing ai), have them build any turret they run across (no decision to be made whether it's worth the money), use the standard UT AI for combat, and set them a rallypoint to attack the enemy moneyball, and call it a day. We'll just stock the teams 2 bots per human and have a blast.
