A friend and I love playing against the AI and found some bugs with the new update. These issues appeared after the recent update and after checking the update log I think I understand why. These are some of the issues: -AI will build naval units no matter what and neglect other units and buildings, even when there is very limited water. (Normal difficulty) -AI will use it's commander to attack hostile buildings close to it's base even when the player spawned near the AI and the buildings the AI is attacking are part of the player's base. This will often lead to an early death of the AI commander. (Normal difficulty) -AI will slam the planet it started on into a hostile planet while not knowing whether the player's commander is still there. It will also ignore the fact that there are multiple enemy commanders on different planets. This will cause the AI to lose everything except his commander while not necessarily winning the game. It usually leads to the destruction of the AI's commander by other players their units. (Normal difficulty) We experienced all of the above issues multiple times and would like to know if anyone else has encountered similar issues. We would also like to know if any of the above issues are intentional or if they do not occur on different difficulties. Also the last two issues are probably caused by these points in the recent update - - Please leave behind any info you might have on these or other AI related issues. Thank you
I can confirm the issue with naval units - I was playing against the AI (normal) on a planet with a very small body of water (a pond really). The AI spawned next to it and built one naval factory, some pgens and metal extractors, and that was it. Their commander spent the whole game just walking in circles, avoiding my units, and the naval factory pumped out about 20 ships and then stopped. They were pretty much frozen the whole game.
Yeah I've noticed the AI building navel only or at least heavy focus on navel when there are ponds on mostly land covered worlds. This behavior has been occurring for at least a few builds now. I don't know how much work has been done on navel planets but the exact opposite occurs where if they start anywhere near land they will build a factory and focus on pumping out land units on a tiny island. Also I agree that the AI commanders suicide behavior is still prevalent. Wont stop walking into my defensive lines all on his lonesome lol
Yeah, I have seen the issue with navel units too. I purposely avoid all water maps so the AI CANT go navel. This also happened in previous versions as well.
I'm not shure, but to me it seems that AI concentrates on naval in case of it's prevalence in firepower, but "forgets" that it can't do anything on land. Not sure, but some inner coefficients in AI logic)
Naval works extremely well against land, where it can reach, but the yeah, the AI doesn't know about the limitations of Naval, only strengths.
