I wanted to just go quietly, but something's come up that I need to express to all who know me. First, let me address this board specifically. It eventually came to my mind that this board had simply become stagnant. There really wasn't anything new to discuss; certainly nothing on the 360. The scenario was much like how a concerned parent sees troubled youth. Of course the kids are causing all sorts of trouble. There's nothing for them to do! I gave a proper goodbye in the mod forum, but figured my declaring something in the official forums would do more harm than good. Since then, I'm sure you guys had still seen me playing MNC. Other things had taken my attention, but I was still coming back to this sometimes. It remains one of my favorite games (and I was just starting to get relevant with the Assault). Now even that is gone to waste. With a heavy heart, I have to give up my subscription to Xbox Live. I already felt I needed to due to money problems, but now I feel I shouldn't even when I GET money. Like so many companies offering a service, their terms of service now include: * waiving your right to a jury trial * all disputes have to be settled by an "impartial" arbiter (i.e. someone picked by them to rule on their case) * banning you from ever pursuing a class-action lawsuit. I love XBL. I think it's a great service, well worth the money. Hell, it's cheaper than Netflix! I don't believe I would ever get into a dispute with them. However, I have no idea what's coming in the future. I want my rights there IF I do get into a dispute. Companies have been doing this ever since the Supreme Court (in a typical party-line 5-4 vote) allowed AT&T to get away with it. I quietly raised the issue when I found it for EA when I wanted to try the Battlefield 3 beta. Fortunately, people seemed to flock much more to Activision's Call of Duty anyway, and Activision doesn't require you to agree to a ToS to play their games (well, not that one anyway). For it to apply to an entire console, now it's really huge. Everyone who has XBL, you now have only your faith to protect you from whatever they feel like doing. If Microsoft decides to just take money at will, as AT&T allegedly did for a great many people, consider that money lost. Honestly, I do believe people should be able to sign away whatever rights they want. That doesn't make it right to do so. For that reason, I am calling for a boycott of Xbox Live service. I doubt many (if any) people will do so, but I simply have to speak out about it. The only ways this kind of obscene crippling of legal rights can stop are if we 1) legislate it to impossibility, or 2) refuse to agree & pay for said services. This is very painful to my way of life, but I have to go with what I believe is right. P.S.: I hope the mods will keep any replies to this thread in good taste. Thank you.
Do whatever you need to. I don't think I've ever been able to play against you ( looks like that wouldn't be happening anyway) but I'm glad that you're happy with that resolve. You'll be missed but I wish you the best in the 'real' world regardless.
Von Karma sucks. Feenie all the way. And I don't even know what you just said, and it probably doesn't matter since I'm only 13. Goodbye, I guess?
That's probably because you actually chose to read it. I just skimmed it and didn't even give a ****. And Gunked, did you seriously not know? I am disappoint.
As long as the Xbox ToS (or I guess End User License Agreement is apparently the more general term) remains the way it is, pretty much entirely, yeah. My PC can't handle the game. If I can't play it on 360 either, then I don't really have any reason to be here. Assuming I can get back with the game, I'll return when I feel there's new territory. That means either I have access to a PC that can handle it or the XBL EULA changes and the 360 version gets an update.
I heard from journalists that a lot of Americans sleep on their cars now and don't have any jobs. I hope that's not the reason why you're leaving.
Can't recall your name from live but enjoyed your post's during my lurking times. Best of luck to you.
