I'm not sure how many others are having this happen too, but now it seems to be becoming a common occurrence for me. Sometimes, just out of the blue, the game will start chugging and the framerate plummets, then I usually end up getting disconnected and killing my desire to play more MNC. Does anyone else have this problem? And if you do, do you know of a fix for it?
sounds like something else is happening on your system try getting a new computer and see if that fixes it
You might check when your schedule virus scan is running. If you're convinced it's a game problem, drop us a launch.log file from a run where perf went bad.
Just a stab in the dark but are you sure it's not your internet causing the lag? You can use Fraps to keep an eye on your graphic performance when it happens. If the number that is shown in the corner of your screen isn't dropping it's most likely an issue with your connection.
I don't think it's my internet, because 99% of the time I'm playing, I'm in Skype, and I can still hear my friends that are in the call, albeit very digitized because of MNC being weird. It could be Skype, but I think I've had this problem without Skype running before. Plus I'm fairly sure it's frame-lag not network-lag, I'll still have it running from now on though. I'll try this out, currently I only had it ignoring the stats folder in the Steam directory. If it happens again after trying what Grimbar suggested, I'll try again with my AV off, then if it happens again, I'll attach a launch.log file in this thread.
Confirmed that it isn't network lag Col_Jessep, had fraps running when I went through another spike, and the number was 1 or 2 the whole time. This also means Grimbar's fix didn't work, so I'm now going to disable my AV and try playing, and if it happens again, I'll post the Launch.log.
I guess it was my AV, played for a good hour or two without any spikes after I disabled it, it still might be luck of the draw though, as it did happen randomly. Going to try a new AV now which my friend recommends is a lot better than my current one. So hopefully this is case closed for now. Thanks for all the help.
Microsoft Security Essentials is pretty good if you're looking for a free AV. Highly rated for detection, light on resources, and it will never harass you to upgrade to a paid version. It pretty much stays out of your way, which is the #1 thing I look for
