I was thinking of something like capture the flag, but with the bot system. Obviously, there's gotta be some balances in order to balance out the number of bots going for the flag. I was thinking that there would be an increased spawn time and a larger amount of cash is required to spawn bots. Also depending on which bot is the flag runner then they'll have a different abilities, like scramblers follow around pros that hold down a certain button long enough next to them. Feel free to add to these ideas, give your thoughts about it, etc etc
I like the idea of one really strong blackjack (think high round blitz here)going into the other base and picking up the flag. The same bot escorts it back and you score a point. Obviously turrets and such would need to be immediately destroyed so your bot can proceed.
Ehh I dunno itd also take a long time for them to even make this kind of thing. At least im pretty sure. Its not like instant.. but keep giving them ideas & im sure one MIGHT make it.
We're glad we have your approval. I like this idea a lot. I think if properly executed, it could be a lot of fun.
Thanks for the support guys. And ya this does sound like it would work but obviously there's got to be some balancing and tweaks involved, maybe nerf the turrents or something, less gremlins etc etc
CTF would be pretty intense, theres no way to have bots though, maybe turret nubs, it be like small hallways and wider hallways and just pro vs pro.
LOVE this idea. Since one of the core mechanics of this game hearkens back to Tower Defense games, the best way to do CTF would be to copy the way TD games do it. The below could be done without adding any new bots and even keeping the current map layouts: - Instead of the money ball you have a flag. - When an enemy bot (blackjack or slim) touches your flag, they immediately start walking the same path back to the enemy base to turn it in. - Enemy bots carrying the flag could be stronger or faster. - When an enemy bot carrying the flag is killed, they drop the flag. - When dropped, either the flag has a time limit in which it will respawn back at your base OR it very very slowly follows the path back towards your base. - If another enemy bot reaches the dropped flag, they immediately pick it up and head back to the enemy base. Other bots could either continue forward to run interference, or head back with the new flag carrier as protection. - Either one cap wins, or team with most caps when time runs out wins. I think this would be a great addition to the game.
This has been posted a few times. Out of the possible new game modes, I'd say that only CTF and neutral moneyball stand a chance. The hardest thing about getting CTF to work would be bot behavior.
When your flag is on the floor, one of your bots has to touch it and carry it back. I reckon that would be better? And i'd prefer most caps at the end, on a game type like this chances are your flag will be all over the place.
I'm liking this idea and think it could work out quite well! I just hope you guys aren't suggesting that player spawned bots will carry the flag as well . Leave it to the BlackJacks/Slim bots. (Imagines buzzers carrying the flag, getting killed while another one catches it in mid air...)
Why are bots carrying the ball? Let's have pros only carrying the flag. If bots are doing all the work how is this so different from crossfire? And instead of a flag it's a gigantic piece of bacon. Let's throw in some of the ideas from shadowrun so that if you activate a skill while holding the bacon you automatically drop it. As the bacon is so massive lighter classes run slower when they carry it (to match medium speed). Medium classes have a slight speed reduction and heavy classes have no speed penalty while carrying the flag. Each base should have bot spawn stations that perhaps can be upgraded like a turret to produce a continuous chain of bot types. Note that you cannot spawn bots directly and type of bots are balanced by their manufacturing speed and cost of the upgrade module. Gap shots for example would be super slow to spawn.... maybe a flood of blackjacks would be better. As the game gets closer to the end bot spawn machines would spit out bots at a faster rate. The most expensive machine would be a blackjack dispenser that would have a rate of something around 1 every 2 minutes. This mode could have 2 map types..... balanced and steal the bacon. In the balanced game both sides have a base with turrets and bot spawners (in limited numbers of each). In the second mode one team is on offense and the other is on defense (and it switches after each game per map then goes to a new map or whatever). The defending team only has turrets and the attacking team only has bot spawn machines. The defenders must keep the bacon in their base and prevent the other team from scoring. The team that scored the most or the fastest in case of a tie wins the map rotation. The attackers must try and recover the bacon while trying to protect their precious bot machines. There is no annihilator in the second game mode.
