Why is it impossible to kill a good assault with any class but assault? A bad assault will get destroyed but when someone knows how to play it, it is almost god-like cheap.
Dude, as an Assault player I can sympathize. We're just too damn good, and sexy as well! But just remember that everyone has a "why is class X so impossible to kill" period. For me, it was Gunners. If I saw one, I would get mowed down within seconds. Now I'm a bit more cagey, and about 50% of the time I take them out. Snipers still give me a bit of trouble from time to time though... Tanks too. I'm guessing you're playing Assassin? Remember that Assault is specifically one of the Assassin's two major predators (the other is Tank). If you're going to try to take down an Assault as an Assassin, just make sure you approach from behind. None of this "run towards his front, cloaked, and try to slide in behind at the last second" stuff that works on some of the other classes. Assault is fast enough to turn around or backpedal, and if you don't kill on the grapple you'd better run! :-D
Who in the world plays as an assassin? I play as a tank, a damn good one too, but Assaults are the bane of me. If they know how to play, they stay far enough way for my Jet Gun to do nothing and my railgun doesn't work. There is no counter if it is a 3v3. Gunners stand no chance when there is 3 of them, nor do tanks, or assassins, or snipers, or supports..... only other assaults stand a chance. Now if an Assault sucks, I will mop the floor with him, but if he is good, there is no chance in hell that ANY class will beat him 1v1 or even 2v2.
I main as a gunner and the only problem I ever have with assaults is they are always fast enough to get in cover before I kill them, but they almost NEVER kill me.
The best tip for fighting an Assault is to know the limit of their AR. At a given distance the damage falls off and although you still take the hits the amount of health lost is minimal. As a Gunner I eat Assaults for breakfast knowing this but on maps like 'LazerRazor' it becomes difficult to manage this distance. In these cases you want to soften them up with the mortar over distance and keep your Minigun spooled when you think you might be getting into a fight. Depending on their build you will either mow them down quickly or be in for a good fight. Just keep firing and if they ever need to reload you just won!
Assaults are easy to take down early on, but once they get their level 3 grapple they can counter most classes with that.
I play Assault and I love my chances against any class most of the time. that is part of the appeal of the Assault is that you never have that " Damn I can't really do much in this game " feeling, because you are so versatile in every match. I have trouble with good snipers some times although I'm getting better and learning their sneaky ways. People are getting good with Gunners and if they know their range and mine, then they are useually able to hold me off for a bit. I play crt/special/armor or fire rate , so I can do a bit of damage with either gun I'm using. Try and get first shot in on Assaults because they may retreat instead of kill you. haha There isn't much to counter Assaults.....that is their Strength. but anybody who is good enough can beat anybody with any class. This game is very well made and is once of the better balanced games ive played. The problem is that some classes require more skill to master. the Assault is easy to learn but hard to Master. The Tank is hard to learn and also hard to master. The Assassin is medium difficullty to learn and hard to Master. and so on........ I've noticed a lot of people just think every class should be easy to learn and use. well, Every good game always has some challenge to it and mastering the harder classes is this games challenge. I can't wait for team strats to start forming.
Assault is the all-rounder, limited weaknesses against other classes but limited strengths too. So yeah, a good Assault with a lot of experience sees each different Pro class as a different type of boss who needs a different method to defeat. I still have trouble with Tanks, mostly. Of all the classes I fear them the most, but thinking about it that's probably down to how little I see of them. Assassins are now nothing more than a pest unless the player is really good. Too many of them being used makes people look out more for the cloak signs and strategies. Gunners are like Assault but with everything set to 'Heavy'. Heavier Gun, Heavier Armour, Heavier Movement, Heavier Skills. So you use your speed to your advantage and the Assault Rifle tears them up. Snipers I just avoid until I manage to annoy them enough for them to come out and try to get me. Even when Frozen if the Sniper comes up desperate for a Grapple Kill I can still get them with the Assault Rifle... if they headshot though that's a different story. Supports are fairly easy because they're usually so distracted by the Firebase that once you start damaging/destroying it they cry and don't know what to do. Tanks though... Railgun is powerful, Flamer is super powerful, they have a lot of hitpoints, and the Charge/Death Blossom is devastating. I usually rely heavily on Skills to do the damage to them but if it's the start of the match they usually pwn me. So yeah, a Good Assault is effective against all classes but not by as much as counter classes. *This assumes players all of 'average skill', so lets not get any angry Supports who are super players who can do stuff without their Firebase getting all RRAAGGEE.
I usually only play as an Assault and play defensively while building up my stats; escorting bots and picking off enemies (Assassins especially).
Yea a Good Tank with the right endorcements takes a while to take down.... I usually try to unload my clip on them while dodging their lazer gun or whatever it is. rail gun ? Then while i'm reloading fly over and try and stick em with nade and wait for them to slip up so I can go in for grapple..... Just remember if you kill them or ring out with grapple, use your jet pack and fly to safety or too a range where your assault Rifle can own again... as an Assault, you must approach every pro differently.. same goes for any class I guess but it's one thing I've noticed I used to do and people still do is try to fight everyone heads up 1 v 1.... This is an open game, so use your environment to your classes advantage.. Don't go head to head against a good gunner....he will prob mow you down......insted you need to be stealthier and suprise attack with nade grapple and then assault rifle or vise versa.
Hey fiercely, its x Iuke x from Total Recoil. That team you guys lost to(for the life of i can't remember their name) in that 3v3 and i saw what you posted in the match report how they used 3 assaults and they beat you with that. at first i was like wtf? how did microsoft mafia lose to these guys cause you guys are good and gave us one hell of a fight in our victory against you. then we had to face them, we pulled out the victory, but in the round they used 3 assaults they beat us, it was tough. our assault could beat theirs, but not double teamed or triple teamed and i was the sin, so i had some tough times against 3 as well. assaults are definitely one tough class, but gunners can counter that, so i wouldn't say overpowerd. by the way, i look forward to any rematches we get, our game was the the most epic one i've had so far, was so good. :mrgreen:
^A gunner CAN beat one Assault, but mix it up to three Assaults? there is no way, they just beat you with range. It is just a cheap tactic and maybe just me, but if the Assault knows what he is doing (and from the replys of many here, it looks as if they only play pub games with strangers who are bad at the game) they haven't went against many GOOD Assaults. I just really don't want this game going from a "team class based game" to a "team one class based game" if EVERYONE just runs with Assaults.
