These changes have absolutely nothing to do with the gameplay, but I think they would be nice.
    1. Orbital stuff. It should be pole-locked and not rotate in direction of movement. Except maybe for fighters, and those too can have a redesign to look more like satellites.
    2. Moon craters. They shouldn't look like this:

    They should look like this:

    3. Naval factories. They look okay, but they don't do this:

Which is a big mistake. Seriously, regular human way of launching the ships is more awesome than space battle robot way?

    Feel free to add more.

You could have the ship be grabbed by robet arms and held in mid-air while it is being nanolathed. Then the factory drops it into the water when it's finished and the boat drives out of the gate.

    with a big splash!

(as if the art team didn't have enough to do already...)

Those guys must work like slaves.

If they work like slaves, they should be used to launching wooden galleys. Just whip them a bit harder, they'll be able to launch a metal warship no problems.

Isn't the general (and less destructive) way of launching massive ships these days to build them in a drydock and then flood the dock?

I think both types are still in general use today.

It's a lot less fun when they break a bottle of champagne, if it doesn't then slide down a slipway. Maybe they do it in a dry dock, then open the gates, just to watch how the dignitaries handle the situation.

Nope! That's far more expensive and is only done on highly specialised and delicate vessels.

    Source: I'm a shipbroker.

EDIT: This is a personal favourite of mine:

Why make and deploy ships from just the planet's surface?! We need an orbital ship building unit that can create and drop ships from orbit. Get a nice big splash and surprise the hell out of the enemy.

Can I bump this with a few more?

    4. Nukes. The rockets. This is the only thing that really really should be built bottom-up. And yet this is the only thing in the game that is built sideways. Seriously, wtf?

    5. Gray squares under factories. They really look out of place. I like how other structures blend into environment, I think factories should do too. Or, if you really want a plate there, make it 3D and not just a decal.

    6. Commander eyes. They should be white. They are white in the Kickstarter trailer, they are white on the artworks. And they look badass being white. Red in game is cheesy and out of place.

The change to the moon craters was disappointing. There is now no terrain that cannot be walked or driven through on moon maps. While some craters should be shallow and traversable there need to be craters that must be navigated around as well. Also I agree that the craters should be puckered around the edges.
