I think that it should be great to see units details from a close range of view. In fact on the livestream, when the zoom was increased at his limit i think that it wasn't enough. What you think about it
I certainly want to get up close so I can make mini-cinematics during casts and of course zooming in pretty far is often essential for micro. I don't think the livestream actually showed a hard limit to zoom in though?
They are trying to remove as much micro as possible. I'm hoping the focus will be on unit management and clever tricks instead of economy compared to SupCom. Having extra little windows to present different locations of the battlefield would be very awesome. You would be able to have complete control over several positions on a single screen. Question is would it be confusing or not?! :ugeek:
I would like a key combo that allows you complete control over the camera, even if you clip into the planet. That would be very useful for screenshots and video clips. Since Uber will have to take awesome close-up screenshots at some point too it would be win/win.
it's not about micro management; it's about seeing awesome units fighting as if we were on the battlefield. But will it be possible to tilt the camera; so we can see units from the front?
I do like being able to zoom in a lot. I don't think it really has anything to do with micro, since you can stay zoomed out... But yeah zooming in real close can be fun. I also like the idea of a really LOW angle camera. So we're basically at the point of view of a small watchtower, looking horizontally over the battlefield.
I was thinking about this myself a few days ago after re-watching the kickstarter video, which seemed to zoom in more, and tilt more, than in the latest gameplay video. Imagine the camera's zoom follows a ' J ' pattern as it approaches the ground. Having the bottom of the J just a few meters off the ground, as it turns to look horizontal across the planet and then maybe even slightly slightly upward. (so you can see the sky from ground level.) This would be very cool. (and easy to implement) If people don't like it, they just don't zoom in further than they want. As it would only start tilting when you are very close to the planet surface.
I liked the Supcom camera in the way you could rotate freely by holding down space when you're zoomed in enough. Still use that to admire how awesome my huge fleet of ships look when they're assaulting the shoreline.
Not not sure what else you expected, the Visualization is more so a trailer than an actual gameplay visualization. Either way we can't accurately critique the camera until it's ready for it, as they've said, they still need to work on it. Mike
