I'm not sure if anyone else can confirm this. When I use my XBOX 360 controller for the PC MNC, I sometimes have trouble picking things. By this I mean like buying juice. I went to buy juice and I had to press the down on the D-PAD repeatedly. It also happens when I'm picking skills, I can't do it quickly like I do on the XBOX or it won't register. I have to take my time and do it slow. This is usually a problem at the beginning of a match when trying to buy the two skills quickly. And lastly, pressing the back button to look at the scoreboard doesn't work when you're killed and waiting to respawn. Pressing tab will make it work, but not the back button. The back button only seems to work when you're alive. I was curious to see if anyone else was having these issues or if it's just me since it is a brand new controller and I haven't broken it in properly. P.S. Do not come into the thread and say KB+M are better. That's not what this is about.
I use a 360 controller and the only problem you describe that I experience is not being able to hit 'back' to view the scoreboard during death. Which I assume is an oversight on the devs' part. No problems buying stuff, aside from the awful 360 dpad sometimes registering incorrectly (which has resulted in building a shave-ice instead of a rock-it more than once in both the 360 and pc versions)
Making sure that all UI elements work with a gamepad is on my list of issues to fix. It's something I wanted to get fully working before beta release but wasn't able to finish that work before beta release. Thanks for the feedback on it!
I just threw up this topic since I didn't see too many controller threads, especially about issues. Most were K&M vs Controller. I wanted to see if it was in fact issues, or like I said my controller needed breaking in. It would be good to hear from more gamepad users.
Some menus haven't been specifically made to work properly with controllers, so it's more likely that I haven't done the gamepad pass on those menus yet than it would be your controller.
Definitely not just you, I registered to post about these exact things. To add to these, when trying to join a server I can use the controller to scroll through the list but I have to use the mouse to actually select one; and if my controller runs out of battery or otherwise loses connection while the game is running, it won't work again until I quit the game and restart, even if I replace the batteries or whatever is necessary to get the controller on again. Aside from that are just annoying issues where the position of the mouse interferes with menu selection, i.e. if the mouse position is hovering over a menu option, it won't let me use the controller to select. I've seen in other games where moving the controller makes the controller input take precedence until the mouse is moved again and vice versa, so if you guys could do something like that, that'd be awesome.
I've been getting more gamepad issues with each new patch. The last one that introduced gear stopped me from being able to select a character at the beginning of a match with the gamepad (if I join a game in progress it still works, but I still can't use the gamepad to select gear), and the latest patch made it so the mouse cursor moves over the buy menu when you open it, so I can't select the red (rightmost) skill to buy unless I use the mouse or keyboard to select it. This is in addition to the other gamepad bugs in my previous post, which are still there. I wouldn't even mind the others that much if you could fix the buy screen bug and let me do things like look at the scoreboard or choose a different class while respawning.
Well, time to Zombify this Topic and bring it back from the dead for good ol Uncle Tully's update. Current issues: 1) Cannot pick class utilizing controller alone. You can scroll up and down to pick a class, but when you press the A button to confirm your selection, it just kicks the cursor back to the top slot, default assault, and does not pick anything. 2) Using controller with voice chat proves difficult, if not impossible. When I map an unused button (l D-pad, r D-pad, left push joystick) to my controller to Talk, close the options menu, and go back to it, Talk is now missing and the last thing on the list is a red question mark. 3) You still cannot pull up the scoreboard when you die by pressing the select button. When you die and have a few seconds, this is the time I use to look at the scoreboard, but while dead, the select button on my controller does nothing. While playing normally it works fine, just not when I'm dead. If anyone else can think of a legitimate complaint, or has the same issues, feel free to comment.
Any news on any of these issues? I've also found some issues of my own: If the mouse is hovering over an item in the menus it automatically disables navigation with the controller, and you can bet a pretty penny that mouse centres every time you load in to the menus.. Personally I think tagging your game with "controller enabled" should entail that you can run the entire game with the controller and not partially
Having all the problems listed. I bought this game seeing it was controller enabled and is it wrong for me to expect the controller functionality to work like the console version? Terrible.
I'd say the game is 90-95% controller enabled. It's just that last 5-10% that gets annoying. But it's not game breaking. But again, Uber has had these issues for a while already. It kind of alienates controller users, but if they haven't fixed it by this point, I really doubt they will. Or they can't. :|
