    Hi,

I searched to see if there was a different thread that covered this topic but did not find one.

    Stream: stable
    Build: 71729

    OS X 10.8.4
    iMac, Mid 2011 (3.4 GHz quad-core i7)
    32 GB RAM
AMD Radeon HD 6970M, 2GB VRAM
    Logitech MX400 2-button wheel mouse

I launched PA and set up a new game, myself versus an AI, Free For All, Duelist System (2 players), no spectators, open to private. I start the game, go into the Settings menu and set the Quality/Preset to 'Uber.' I use the mouse wheel to zoom in to the planet's surface and the texture map is covered by little blue dots and lines that obscure the view of the terrain. The blue lines move and change size as I scroll around the surface using the arrow keys.

I have tried changing the settings in the in the Graphics area of the Settings menu of the PA game but it does not help. The dots and lines only get bigger or smaller but never go away. In OS X, the iMac display is set show it's resolution 'best for built-in display.' OS X AirPlay Mirroring is turned off. Is there anything that I can do to make the lines go away? The game is unplayable in this state. See attached screenshots for examples.

    Thanks!

    Hello,

Have you tried upgrading your video card drivers? Sounds like a driver issue to me.

Also, the recommended OS part of the PA steam page said:

    Hi.

I have the latest graphics drivers released for the version of OS X which is installed on my iMac. Until recently, I was limited to OS X 10.8.4 (instead of 10.8.5 or 10.9.x) due to software that I use for work. The work software has been patched and soon I will be upgrading to either OS X 10.8.5 or 10.9.x. I will report back if that solves the in-game graphics issues that I experienced.

I should have stated in my initial inquiry that I am using the UberLauncher application, not Steam, to play the game. The Planetary Annihilation FAQ ( ...support.uberent.com/kb/faq.php?id=11 ) and main Planetary Annihilation webpage ( ...uberent.com/pa/ ) both (currently) state that the game runs on OS X 10.7 and above. So that is what I went with when I tried to play the game on this computer.

Thanks for your response and suggestion, kjotak109.

I had this occur to me earlier on when zooming in and out, sometimes only 1 or 2 squares, othertimes sections.

Windows 8.1 latest updates for windows and my NVIDIA 860M 340 drivers.

    Hello again.

I have upgraded the Mac operating system to OS X 10.8.5 with all of the latest software patches. This is the most recent version of OS X 10.8. The blue dots and lines problem persists in game. Please advise, thanks.

10.9.x would be a far safer bet. While they may technically support 10.7 and 10.8, it's iffy.

Just like vista. technically its supported, but a total nightmare on some systems.

This seems more like a texture loading issue than an OS issues, especially if it is seen across more than one OS platform than it is most likely a game issue.

Now the fun part, tracking it down..

I did note that i do alt+tab out of the game, i know in games like team Fortress 2 when that happens, some textures do not load properly and instead use a base texture.

OP, did you go out of the game window at any time and put focus on another application perhaps?
