Me and my friends are playing a 3v3 match against bots to try and get our feet wet for the game. However, roughly 15-20 minutes into the game everything starts to slow down. Not as in the framerate is getting slower or that the network connection starts lagging, but that the game slows down its speed to 30% or something so that everything moves in slow-motion. Is this intentional and is there a way to try and manipulate it?
This is a server problem, if I recall correctly. Only the developers can fix it. Also, can you please post your Dxdiag so that I can diagnose the problem?
Possibly because of lagging servers/no offline mode? This is what happens when so many people play on off-site servers at once.
Sure, anything to help. We definitely wanna play this but we lack the patience to wait 15 minutes for our troops to move a couple of meters.
Your Nvidia driver is a few months old: Code: Card name: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570 Driver Version: 9.18.13.3788 Driver Date/Size: 5/20/2014 04:44:03, 17480432 bytes Please download and install the latest drivers from the Nvidia website: http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/77224/en-us Lag like this shouldn't happen on a powerful system like yours.
I'll update. Keep forgetting to do that once in a while. But it isn't lag like that, its the game slowing down to a crawl and not just for me, but for all my friends as well. Its not lower framerate. My computer runs the game perfectly fine, and when this slowdown happens we can move around the camera and interact with everything just as normal, everything in the game just starts moving in slow motion. Unit speed, production, everything within the game.
Hi @Keasar, The game has time dilation meaning the server will slow the game speed down when it's getting hammered to maintain a smooth frame rate. Cheers, Todd
Why ask about the client performance when the OP clearly stated that it is the server running slow? Nothing on the client can change the sim speed except by not building any units.
Use Ctrl+P in game and look at the "sim" tab: it'll show you where the slowdown come from. Most of the time it's because the server struggles to manage units' navigation. And yes, a game without AI alleviates some workload on the server (not that much though). The maximum speed of the simulation is 10 fps, which means that the "sim tick" mustn't exceed 100ms.
